I got this 2002 Yamaha YZ 85 for $900. I added 17" slicks on 2.5 front and 3.5 rear rims with rad hubs. I upgraded the springs for my weight along with supermoto front fender. This little bike is a blast I've been going to the go kart track paying $25 to ride all day. I also ran into James Bubba Stewart at Adams Kart track on his 450 SM. I just need to add my sticker kit.
I might have to do a bit of research on Kart tracks around here.

Super fun. I've been wanting to do something like that. I just don't have a local kart track.
$25? Wow. I wish.
...dude you ride an offroad bike with slicks, 1/2 the weight of a GS, double the suspension, with a browning 50 cal going off 32" from your skull as a daily freaking driver - I'd expect anything except a nitro dragbike to be bland by comparison - SSG
Adams...is that the one out towards riverside off the 60 or 215? I ran the YSR there a few time. For Kart tracks, try and get some time on Grange' our near victorville, or the Los Vegas Kart track between Jean and Vegas. Both are really nice, fast, flowing tracks. Not all tight like Willow springs or Buttonwillow.
PS: I had that CR80 (92cc actualy) In my RS125 pushing out around 30 HP. The shifter Kart guys run the 80cc motors so there are alot of speed parts for them. Not sure about Yammi, most seem to be Hondas.

I've done Grange, Adams, and Cali speedway or AAA speedway kart track. I like Grange the best so far. I like the elevations that Grange has and like you said it is more flowing.
So Sears Point has a Kart track, but it's $60 a day. Motards every other week.
Lots of 80s available around a grand. How much were the wheels?

How short of a fuse? I've read shifter kart guys do top ends between heats.

You'd be looking at almost another grand to well over depending on choice. I researched just about every possible combo of hubs/rims/builders when I did mine. For the money I think a set of RAD hubs laced to Excel hoops by Kirk at Factory Pro Racing is the way to go. Though for an 80 I don't think I'd go with the added cost of the Excel hubs. I think you can save $250 that way.

Motard Wheel Kit
May need to mess with the spacers some for a YZ, but still inexpensive.
Of course, ya'll could have had a fully set up mini SM a couple years ago for around a grand, but I digress.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government.

I have about a grand into the wheels, Black 32 hole Excel hoops 2.5 front 3.5 rear $200, Rad hubs $350, 125gp slicks $200, 17" spokes with blue nipples, and heavy duty inner tubes $100. I laced the wheels myself and had them trued at a local motorcycle shop $40.

That all sounds right on for what I've seen for 17's but $100 for tubes? I have the supposed "heavy duty" tubes from Motostrano and they were about $12 each. You can go through a lot of tubes before you hit $100. I have over 2000 miles on mine already.
