I really like the 08-09 1000RR, but I'd love to sample the new R1 engine.
That's almost enough to put Yamahahaha and I back on speaking terms after the R6.
I wouldn't put my money down on the first lot though....

And while I can appreciate the technological updates, my money is still on the Honda. Some may hate the new CBR's look, but I think I like this look of the R1 even LESS. Even still, I'm curious to see how it does.
Like I mentioned it in the other thread, I think it looks like a Terminator.
Based on the pictures it looks like both headlights look like low beams. If that's the case, hopefully that's a trend that will trickle over to the other manufacturers.
Nice to see we were on the right track...still want to see the white papers though.

True dat...can't believe Cameron hasn't written an article yet...
He probably got far enough to know he was at the tip of the iceberg and publishing could make him look real stupid without more information.
I know the feeling.
Ditoo...Honda's papers on the subject are so old now they're probably yellow...
Plus they didn't slavishly hold to I4, and their counterbalancer makes horsepower...not sure my brain is ready to process their wizardry yet, it might hit stack overflow.

I agree with that...but it's hard not to come away thinking that the paddock "human interest" story of 2008 is how Yamaha engineers doggedly managed to put an inferior configuration into the window of opportunity of a superior rider...given that the margin is very, very slim at that end of things...
"Ten times more charming than that Arnold on Green Acres..."
I would think that with that firing order, revs would be down. Nice to see yamaha shortened up the stroke to bring max revs back up to the same level.
I personally can't wait to see one in person and hear one at that. A nice set of sato or akra cans should open that growler right on up. Ohlins forks and shock would really round out the package...

The vast majority of fans don't give a damn about the human element of engineers or design or a clever solution set (electronics and tires lately).
They want it to be their chosen hero in the saddle, and damn it all to hell if a group like Stoner's team pulls it out, even with their incredible David vs Goliath all we heard about was Bridgestone and electronics ruining the sport, and kicks the established elite's ass without their permission.
