New WR250X

This little Fi 250 is possibly the most fun bike I've ever owned. That's saying a LOT. From the minute I straddled it and popped the starter, I was in grin city. Plenty of power, almost unbelievable power for a 250. The Battlax rubber sticks like glue on corners and it does corner

I sat on one in the dealer a couple weeks ago. Not a bad little ride.

Now you just have one thing left to do: Bring it to Grattan next year.

That looks like a fun scoot. Does is have enough juice to lift the front wheel in squidly fashion?

I am really amazed at its grunt. It hauled me and a similar sized pillion around with ease last night
No problem with maneuvering in traffic at least at surface street speeds. Supposedly it runs out of beans @~90mph...

Yamaha has been making "not your normal 250" for about 7 years now. I owned a WR250f back in the day and I couldn't believe how awesome it was. If these were a little more budget friendly I would have one for my commute.

My trick is just alternate taking the GS and the KLR, and the KLR feels like a little 250 then

U suck....

I am hoping they do this to the 450 this yr. Then I will make the leap. Will get the off road tires for it as well. GF has a DR650. Really tweeks me when she wonders off road leaving me on the pavement.

Just dual sport your WR450? A dual sport lighting kit is $450ish and then $300 for some tires.

if you get the x, wheels are 17s and the swap requires chain, wheels and rotors. If you want more of an ADV bike, consider the r. They DO make TKC-80 type tires for the 17 wheels just not a good front tire...looks like two rears.

I rode a dealers new KLR in 05 and was not impressed with it at all. Maybe there was something wrong with that one but I passed on it. No power and no brakes.

Also look at the maintenance intervals on the 450 vs the yammi.

Yeah, I'm well aware. That's why I'm not going that route but if he already has the bike it's a cheap conversion that could do until they come out with what he's looking for. I'd love to motard a CRF but you'd almost have to pull over on the side of the road every 30 min for valve checks and oil changes.

...and a suspension you swear is made of prairie grass? yep, that sounds pretty much accurate

But I have to ask what you were riding at the time too . Go from any other machine onto a KLR and you think somethings wrong with the bike

My big pig (GS) has silly torque and a way more useful engine, but it's large. Going from the pig to the klr, the klr feels tiny and though not nearly as sackfull - it's a blast to ride.

Its one of the few bikes that I ride that doesen't do anything particularly awesome, but it does what I need reasonably well. I cannot find a good reason to sell it either because it has major grin factor when riding it.

Although it's all of 38hp and just a shade under 400# wet IIRC, it does move ok - just doesen't feel like it is. The best part is when it fall go boom in the woods, you just start laughing.

There's a benefit to having a bike you can get a flat on, and then use a bucksaw to construct yourself your own little shop anywhere you need .
(sorry I don't have pictures of the full shop, but pine sucks for trying to change tubes and tires)

BTT- the wr250 is a nice bike, and is probably faster and more flexible than said KLR

a very tactful response to my gauche There are more than a few reasons the KLR is as popular as it is.
