My New Addition

Since my son has gone to take on a new life in a foreign land I am now the new owner of a 2004 Triumph Daytona 955i!

I really do like this bike, and it does have a sentimental value, but I am not sure what I will do with it. The triple engine really does split the difference between a V-twin and and an I4. Smooth torquey low end with a strong rush of power at high RPM. And it DOES sound cool! Especially with the Two Brothers C/F Hi mount can. I plan to take it to Jennings for a track day in April, if possible.

I think it could make a decent track bike for me, good performance potential, but not too hyper. The almost total lack race prep components will make it interesting to say the least.

You must have Super Sheep Vision
Actually, the first thing ol' Pops got to do was have a new rear tire replaced, and it's still got a lettle bit to go to the edges.

I put a Pirelli super corsa on it. It was recommended as a good track day tire. The power pilot on the front still has a little life in it, so I am trying to use it up practicing braking ala Sport Riding Techinques (Nick Ienatsch ). It is amazing how much there is to getting really good on the brakes. Anyway, I plan to install a super corsa on the front, and try to make it to Jennings.

I have another issue with this bike that really bugs me. The pipe for the high mount sticks WAY out and interfers with my right heel when I put the ball of my foot on the peg. (see pics) I thought I would pull the exhaust off and have a muffler shop do a little bending, but the one I went to says they can't bend it at all with out reducing the pipe diameter in the bend (no mandrel bender). So I may attempt a cut and weld project.

I had to get rid of my high mount exhaust on my 636 for this very reason... melted my boot on the dang pipe...

Re: My New Addition

Nice Bike! I lusted after one that was for sale at a shop in Indy, but was not sure if that was a bike for track and street duties then I got a tracked preped CBR600. I still like the Triumph. They don;t seem to be very popular though.

Re: My New Addition

OK, for better or worse, it is a subtraction.

Kind of a relief in one way, there is precious little available in aftermarket accessories. And how can anyone own a bike they can't mod?
