Ok, I was at the toronto bike show today and have finally figured out some of my plans for the 2010 riding season.
After a dismal2009, I am happy to say it is looking MUCH better for the 2010 season.
First off, I will be racing in the SOAR road racing series at Cayuga speedway with Richard636 I have the time booked off for all of those dates. they are as follows.
2010 SCHEDULE ROUND ONE May 7-9 ROUND TWO June 11-13 - Reverse Direction w/Endurance ROUND THREE July 9-11 - Endurance ROUND FOUR August 6-8 - Reverse Direction ROUND FIVE September 10-12 - Endurance ROUND SIX October 15-17 - Endurance
This will be my first season of racing and I bought my first race license today. Not a huge deal to some, but a pretty exciting thing for me anyway... I am also VERY excited about the endurance races
I will also be Making the LONG trip east to the nicest track in Canada, Calabogie Motorsports park, 5 times solidified so far...
those dates are July 26-27 August 9,10,11
I am also hoping to get in to a few EARLY season trackdays somewhere, just to get familliar with the new bike and try to get up to speed on it prior to having to race it.
There was one other "event" that I will be attending but I don't have the cemented dates yet. I do have the time off booked for it though.
Seeing as I only did 3 excellent, fun, safe days last year I figured that I had better make up for it some how.
What's everyone else planning for the track in 2010, and who is coming north to calabogie to ride with us(moto954, myself and hopefully Richard636 and JBD)

Hopefully ride a lot more trackdays than last year, I had the same story. I think I did one day at Putnam and then our event at Grattan, and that was it.
Being shot out of a cannon will always be better than being squeezed out of a tube. That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba.... - Hunter S. Thompson
I realized why last year was such a CRAPPY year. honestly, I didn't do anything other than grattan...I just kept saying I'll sign up for something in a while, and never did. Moving 7+ hours to a new house in the middle of the summer never helps either but it is not a good excuse.
I've decided that this year I HAVE to set aside the time and just do it, because if I don't, I just don't get a chance to ride.

Good, I'm glad you've commited to some dates! I'll be there as well. I'll contact Pro6 in the near future and book these dates also.
So it looks like we'll be riding for 6 days strait, Aug 6-12. Aug 6-8 is the SOAR round, and then 9-11 at bogie. It's going to be tough to race on Sunday and then make the 6 hour drive to Bogie to ride the next day.

Ahh well, we'll tough it out.
I was looking at that and figured that we'll both be in such good shape from the endurance rounds that we could jog from cayuga to calabogie by then anyway...
Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of "saving" some holidays... and trying to group some track days together...
we can always change some things up prior if we need to but I figured why not...
Now I just have to get my road trips planned and we'll be laughing. Anyone up for a KTM day at mid ohio? ride down on street bikes, then rent and ride a shiney orange ktm?

The simple explanation...LIFE happens. Sometimes things just won't work out. We try to do the best for ourselves, but it does not always work. So, start planning (yes, I know you have) and hope that flat tire going to a track does not happen!

LOL, you're like me last year around this time.
I went out and bought a track bike, having NEVER been on the track. Then I booked about 10 trackdays with Pro6 and decided I was commited right there and then. Had I waited for the time to come who knows if I actually would have made it out to any trackdays.
Cool and for early I can suggest a place in March (the February is pushing the envelope to much for someone coming as far as y'all)
What did you have to do for your license? In WERA you have to do some track time and test for flags (Bargy did at least) I cannot see you being on track up there now
If everything tastes like chicken..... what does chicken taste like
Looks good! I'm happy for you, and I can only imagine how much better and faster you'll get with all that riding practice. And you're already pretty darn fast!

Yeah.... exactly my thought. You'll be flying in not time on that 600. Richard, I'm sure you'll give him a run for is money too. Looking forward to ride with both of you on those new bikes. I'll see what can be done with those dates. We need to figure out something for the endurance too!

I just got the local SOAR race license... I think that it entitles me to run in the "RACE" series too(not sure though)
Either way it I can't see it being a big deal to get another one, more just a money thing, if it's a hundred bucks a shot I want to make sure I am only getting the licenses I "need"
I am thinking that anything is possible this season, as long as I can find a couple of guys to split some of the costs with... Richard, JBD,Moto954 you guys up for a trip south?
I am hoping that the new bike will improve my confidence and my riding as from what I remember about a BONE STOCK 600RR from spencers is I was pretty comfy on it. It's pretty intimidating, at least to me, to be going racing on a brand new bike AND a new circuit. I have no doubt that Richard is going to be a handful out there too... hahaha Maybe I should have stayed with my 1KRR so I wouldn't have to "put up with him" in the same class...
Thanks, for the compliments, coming from you 2 it's pretty flattering... I think that you just made me blush

You're going to need a DeLorean with a few choice accessories.

Seriously, thanks for the offer, but my motobudget, both dollars and especially time off, is devoted to something else I'm working on.
I do look forward to getting back to the track one of these days.

I was with Northern at the T.O. Bike Show when he made his plans. I too have signed up for the above dates with Pro6Cycle. As well as:
May 17 Shannonville
June 1-2 Mosport
June 21 Shannonville
July 19 Shannonville July 26-27 Calabogie August 9,10,11 Calabogie
August 30 Shannonville
I still have a rain check from this past season for Cayuga to use up as well. Still waiting on the schedule to come out.
It would be a wicked time if some MCADX could make it out to Calabogie as well. They figure on the dates selling out by March.

Corey, I'll probably join you on Aug 30th for the Shannonville - Nelson trackday. I've got a voucher for a Pro6 Nelson trackday sitting on my dresser.
I also just sent Pro6 an email about registering for the July 26-27 and August 9-11 dates. Hopefully they'll get back to me soon so I can confirm that I'll be attending as well.
As you mentioned it'd be awesome to have some other MCADX make it out to either of these dates. Hondagals, JBD, Davef, Brett, nhff, SSG, 08silverCBR, anyone else who's within' reasonable driving distance.......??????
If were lucky, bwhip might fly in on his private jet!
That sounds awesome Richard, we should look at car pooling since we only live an hour apart. I have to drive past your place anyway.
Congratulations on the SOAR race series, you and Northern will do well. I'll definately support from the sidelines and give you guys a hand in the pits if required.
^ Sweet, yea for sure we should car pool. Your trailer will fit 2 bikes right?
We would have to leave my place by about 5am, as it's roughly 3 hours from Cambridge. Meh, we have just over 8 months to figure it out.... lol.
I'm for sure amped about getting back to bogie. My second and thrid trackdays ever were there. My times were by no means impressive as I was running around 2:27. I'm quite confident that I can shave about 10 seconds off that time when I go back. Well if i get a few tows around the track from Northern and JBD.....
Richard you'll be sub 2:20's by the second day if you take to it like you did grattan... No worries there...
I can't wait to try it on a 600 though. it's a BIG track, and I think it may be one of the only ones I ride regularlry that I will miss the extra HP on? then again maybe not?
Not sure if I will make the leap to racing, but putting together a list of trackdays and schools that I want to attend. I have them on a spreadsheet. I wont do all of them but as many as I can afford. I am starting a little track group in the tri state area and this schedule is prepared for all of us. Its not complete since a lot of the orgs havent released dates yet, but you get the idea.
