    01 ZX6 practical..

for a trackday only bike?? i can get my hands on one that is mechanically sound for ~$2500.

what would i need to do to make it work for a fast 200 pounder??

no, not a 6R - just a 6 as seen here. will it work?

Well, there's a guy who does 1:25's at Grattan on an SV650, so 'fast' is a relative term.

You'll get passed on the straights by more modern and focused machinery, but whether or not you can pass back in the turns has to do with the amount, cost and availability of aftermarket go-fast parts for this motorcycle. The SV, for example, has huge aftermarket support and a considerable knowledge base, and I know there are a number of enthusiastic people who are making parts for the Kawi 650 twin.

I'd check to see if there is a forum or other community that will provide the knowledge and support you'd need.

But to answer your question, long as it holds all it's fluids, and consumables are fresh, no reason it'd be a bad track whore.

+2. I've seen track-prepped SS bikes of the same era for that price on craigslist. Also, check out the WERA forums for some decent deals...

As others have mentioned, there are better deals to be had.

I picked my track bike up for $3000 here in Toronto, a trackday ready 2002 GSX-R 600. It's an old race bike so it came already saftey wired and obviously with race fairings along with the basic trackday bolt-ons. I also got a bunch of spares like extra set of Pazzo levers, clip ons, stock foot controls with risers and a few others I can't think of. It also has a bit of front suspension work, racetech springs and ohlins valving. In the rear there's a Fox TC shock (nothing special but does the trick).

Just keep looking around on the forums, especially WERA.

Yeah really, those Sazooks and their damned inferior to Honda caliper bolts!

I actually think it was that Honda caliper bolt that got me down to a '31' at Grattan. Mabey next year I'll convert to all Honda caliper bolts and run a 29. hahaha

    Thanks again bud!
