Say a prayer for a corner worker and fellow rider
At barber we just had a corner worker hit. Prayers needed as this gentman left by chopper. Sadly this is serious as he got hit near the end of the straight. 2 riders were also down with their status unknown (one might have went out via ambulance.

Hopefully the guy makes it. Was the worker out of his station or did the bike hit the station itself?

Center of track when I went by the second time. When I went by the first he was trying to get something from the track (rumor is a bird). Me and another fellow were the front two bikes the other rider checked up and I was going to go wide anyway so carried on around then saw why he had checked up. I am 99% sure he was off the track when I went by. Sadly he returned, it appears, and he was in the track when I went by the second time with two bikes down off the side in the grass. I did not notice riders up and about but am unsure as I was making sure to give the corner worker my attention so I did not add to a terrible situation. A season of red flagged sessions would be better than this gentlemen being injured. But hind sight is always easy

Live life to the fullest and smile while doing it
Prayer sent
Makes you wonder why no debri flag was out if he went to pick something up while the track was green

Did the previous station have a flag up?

Age of bike + rider = 78 !!
That's just awful. Hope he makes it, as well as the involved riders.

An addiction no rehab can cure
From Sean Clarke (Mongo) on the WERA forum:
Yes, a rider and a corner worker were killed earlier today. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved and their friends and families.
Absolutely tragic. My prayers certainly go out on behalf of all involved and their families.

Believe
I can't believe the station before the incident wasn't showing a yellow flag and the "hot" corner second waving the debris flag and a waving yellow. The only explanation is that the corner worker that was hit didn't notify the rest of the stations that he was going on-track to clear debris otherwise standard protocol would have prevented the incident.
Godspeed to the rider and the corner worker

This was kind of strange on many fronts. He was in the track when I came out of #5 and went off to the right. I did not realize until later that there is no station there thus he recrossed. The thing is though it was unnerving coming out of #5 to a person on the track (I did not see any flags myself) we were able to slow with plenty of time (or so it seemed to me) It puzzles me that the next batch could not also slow but then I was not there at the time so there could be a ton of things I don't know of. Regardless this was a terrible thing and my condolences to both families. If there is any good in it at all it is that a second rider also was off track when I came by on the red and I believe OK.

Wow.....this is horrible.
Each of us has something different to contribute, and no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, it can be for the benefit of all.

Do too.
I just learned the rider is from another site I've been on, www.sportbikes.ws.
To respect their wishes, I'm asking that conjecture about how/what/why be minimized and that we focus on WHO until all the details are released.
I'm pretty sure she's the super fast lady that was in the ED Bargy school that Sheep, DoubleDan and I attended last May.

The hype is low.
Jeebus ... just read all the links.
No matter how you slice, that is simply just terrible.

Ouch she was a great lady. Hope her husband is as good as can be expected. Still eating at me and I was unaffected.

I just went back through all my pics and stuff.
It was FEM FATALE, Sutton Chandler, who was in our class. I only knew her from the class but she immediately came across as an immensely friendly person who would easily draw you in and you had no choice but to become her friend.
Our prayers go out to her and her friends and family.
Godspeed, Ms Fatale.

Wake me up...save me from the nothing I've become
I read sheep's post early on (like @ #3 and was stunned and did not know what to say. I still don't know what to say other than Godspeed to all involved, and sheep betterkeep the wool intact.
I'll not post any armchair analysis, although I have my thoughts, but any way you look at this...it never should have happened. None of us have the ability to change what has passed, but perhaps we can change things for the future to prevent this from happening again.
I am not talking about activism, but more akin to better understanding by everyone...riders, corner workers, promoters and anyone associated, with the importance of safety for all and how to achieve that.
On this Memorial Day holiday I have two things to say. Please be careful out there, and thanks to all who have served or are serving our country.
