It sucks, but as more and more folks get into trackdays, you're gonna have some folks that just don't take personal responsibility. Oil plugs falling out is an example, a personal annoyance of mine. How to prevent it? If they took the time to inspect every single one, tech would take forever. None of the orgs want to require safety wiring in anything but advanced, because they think it would deter people, and they want to get them off the streets.

I love BeaveRun, so I'll let you know when I'll be there. I try and do at least two weekends there.
But safety vs profit? I know we have all chosen a risky sport to play in but ......
I payed to be there in a safe controlled atmosphere (no cars or other distractions) which is what they tout. Funny don't you think. Quantity at the risk of quality can only go so far before it is truly dangerous.

If this is the only group you could choose from would you? I guess we all vote with our dollar.

I have voted with my dollars. I think NESBA runs a safe day compared to others, so they are the ones I've ridden with the past couple of seasons. Unlike the other clubs, they are non-profit. Most of the others are for-profit and it sometimes shows in the way the day is run. They all have their pros and cons. I doubt I'll find the "perfect" track day org.

Hmmmm sounds sort of familiar . . . I wonder just how loudly Jim Sheldon is laughing right about now . . .

FYI, EVERY bike that goes on the track during McAdx days will go through a thorough tech inspection.

    Same for gear . . .

    Now in stereo
    Visionaries say "Yes, we can."
    Engineers say "Not so fast."

Yup, and It's a real shame. I'd like to be able to have a choice of providers, and at certain tracks, that's no longer an option. I'd like to ride at Mid-O again...but I'm not joining STT to do it.

No org is perfect. I rode with TPM at Calabogie, didn't like their organizational skills. Tech was decent the first 2 days but the third day was a different guy who really went over stuff well. Could be he noticed the damage on my bike and decided to look over stuff a little more but the second day guy didn't do anymore than he did the day before.

Which is one of the great and unique things about the McAdx days and makes it my most favorite track day. Limiting it to 45 bikes makes a thorough inspection possible. A regular trackday with 120+ riders makes it nearly impossible, unfortunately.

If pickins are too slim-like no A2A days at all then I'll be snooping for an opening-and besides STT can't cover all the days. They may own the weekends but I doubt Monte will be able to pay for all the weekdays. I prefer to go to addicts days and A2A days. If A2A ceases to exist then a few private days may need to be organized.

If I'm correct by looking at pictures from last year, the guy who uses belt sanders and zip ties helped with tech?

I'd have to agree with HG2. From what I've seen the day depends on the people. Some days good, some badd A2A runs a pretty lenient tech...checking my bolts with fingers. It’s a personal accountability thing though. It would take a total dumb ass not to tighten up a drain plug even without safety wire. As for A2A I've gotten in plenty of riding by the end of the day feeling exhausted. Not sure about STT... No real reason to find out.

Believe me, there are "total dumb assholes" everywhere . . .

I have spent over 200 hours staring at the track while the corner workers cleaned up some "personally accountable" assclown's oil or antifreeze. Add that to the 5 weeks or so I have been hospitalized and the months of rehab required because someone didn't check/safety wire/tighten their oil plug and I have exactly zero tolerance for any organization that doesn't personally check every potential leak or crash hazard on every bike running on the track.

Nevermind about the thousands of dollars in equipment carnage caused from negligence by a rider and the organization. This sport is dangerous enough without the risk of riding with assholes.

BTW, the guy with the beltsander can tech my bike any day of the week and I'll know it's safe . . .

    Who is Monte?

Just giving hammer a hard time as usual. But if he gets to run his hands over my bike.... nevermind The only gear/tech question I have is my Helmet. 08 model Icon, but no "born on date" to be found? Dot/Snell ..but why is that?
