now why can't they all go down as smoothly as that.
Because they built it in the middle of the F-in' bleepin' desert where the landscape is so devoid of life that no greenie will be able to put up a fight.
Today's public figures can no longer write their own speeches or books, and there is some evidence that they can't read them either.

but dude what about all those snakes, scorpions and spiders. I want a study done on how this is going to affect the sand and rocks.
its like when I first drove into Calabogie I thought who the hell is gonna hear anything out here. You can muder someone and no one would find out. On my GPS the road ended about 3/4 of a mile before you got to the track. You're in the middle of the freaking woods, who is the sound gonna bother? the friggin deer?

Hahaha. Very good point.
Living out west and growing up out here, you should hear some of the arguments these folks use.

"1 hour" east of Palm Springs? That is way out there.
It might be 3 hours from LA at 2AM on a Wednesday...
If I can make it to the AZ border from Orange County in 3.5 hrs, 3 hrs from LA on a Sat/Sun morning is no problem.

Actually they do have to do a study for the desert tortoise. Supposedly they have enough land that if they find some all they have to do is relocated them to a protected habitat on the property.
I googled "Chuckwalla Valley Raceway" and mcadx was the first link to pop up.
still wondering what the track will look like though
There is only one track map on the site. It also says that there would be three road courses available by early 2009. Looks as if they're not keeping with that schedule.
Their web site says its at the old Desert Center airport. Google earth pics of that area are very out of date, I know at least one of the runways were repaved about 10 years ago, but it is still an abandioned airport. I believe the county or Riverside owns the land, I wonder if they sold it or are leasing it. The FAA records for L64 list the owners as:
Ownership: Publicly-owned Owner: CHUCKWALLA VALLEY ASSOCIATES LLC
PO BOX 714
PALM DESERT, CA 92261I'm curious how much they are going to maintain the airport and keep it open.
Looking at the contours of the map, it looks like they'll have something similar to Laguna Seca's "Corkscrew".... I circled it on the map
Not quite like the Corkscrew, but that track is actually pretty similar to Laguna's layout. You'll definitely have some speed going down that hill into the corner after the kink.

But.... $9995 for a 223cc motorcycle? from the bike's specs, it sounds like an old Yamaha 225 Serow... I don't recall them being that expensive...
**EDIT** I just watched their promo video.... it IS a bloody XT225 Serow with some fancy fold up handlebars!!
**EDIT number 2** The XT225 was sold in 2007 with an MSRP of $4199.... that some damn expensive handlebars!!

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
Micky Granna, co-operator of SoCal Trackdays is one of the principles of Chuckwalla. Great guy. Makes me look little. This is one big dude, and pretty damn fast on two wheels notwithstanding. His SMMR events in Pahrump, NV are some of the best track events on the west coast, imho.
