almost track ready, couple questions first.

ok so I added the front number plate that I forgot when I painted the race glass last year. couple minor problems with drips from the rattle can and the painters tape chipping the paint but overall it'll do just fine even if it doesn't look all that pretty. the numbers are a little crooked but whatever close enough. gotta get some numbers for the tail tomorrow. painted my little custom undertail (piece of plexiglass). the tech guy at a track day last year said I should tape it up so I covered the inside with duct tape and sprayed the outside to match. threw in a pic of the cockpit too. that Baketech lap timer holder is sweet. also mounted the cam remote on the triple.

but on to the questions. where should I drill to run the wire for oil filter. I think either of the tabs I marked A and B should work but I don't know if they are ok to drill. any suggestions? I think I'm also gonna wire the 3 bolts of the undertail together because they can't really be tightened a lot or else the plexiglass will break.

where should I mount the bullet camera. I bought a POV1 helmet cam system and it comes with a couple mounts but I'm not sure on best placement. I think right on the side of the fairing at the top above the frame slider would work good and I think on the tail to get some rear shots too. do you think the velcro would be sufficient to hold it on or should I drill a couple holes and throw a couple little bolts into the fairing?

Look on the underside of your oil pan. Is there a tab you can drill there? Probably be easier.

Why not wire it to the drain bolt? Wrapping the safety wire around the exhaust header works too.

because the drain bolt is at the back of the oil pan. so its probably 10-12 inches away, that's a long way. yeah I don't really like the idea of going around the header cause I don't wanna scratch up the sweet Sato pipes.
Z I'll check on the underside for a tab tomorrow.

but thanks for the ideas. you coming to Grattan at the end of the month?

Do not mount the cam under the front nose above the fender

Get the super velcro (plastic) and it is OK. I would not trust regular velcro.

Neither A or B. Pull a bolt and drill the head. That way if you wanted to undo your handy work you just need a bolt

yeah I remember reading about cam/fender issue. seems like the one square piece that is sized to fit one of the mounts is pretty strong, the other pieces not so strong. I'll go and look for some of the super stuff tomorrow. if its anything like the stuff that holds on knee pucks I'd probably pull a chunk of fairing off with it so at least I know it won't come flying off.

I wouldn't drill through those tabs you labeled. The bolts Hammer suggested would be fine. You have a full system? Are there loops welded on the pipe that springs hook into? The springs that hold together the pieces of the exhaust? That's what I wired my filter to...one of the loops on the exhaust that a spring is hooked to.

Ask a cop they will know where to get it probably. It is stronger than pucks, I cannot even imagine getting a slider off with it (though it is not real flexible)

The bike looks great!!

The filter is the only thing that I have left to do on my bike. I hadn't looked for a place to connect the wire to. I guess I should do that.

Can't tell which way you have the hose clamp positioned from the pic, but I run the safety wire from the clamp to around the radiator bracket arm. Take a look at it and you'll see where I'm talking about. You don't need to drill anything.

I had a bullet cam mounted under the front cowl and never had a problem with it hitting the fender. If your forks are set up properly you shouldn't have a problem either.

I crunched mine on the RC and moved it

The '51 and 929 may not have the same clearance above the fenders.

yup full Sato system. there aren't any springs until underneath the oil pan. the headers bolt onto the head just like OEM.

the pucks on my suit are extremely hard to get off. good thing I got the placement right on the second try.

once you see it in person you'll see all the imperfections in the paint prep work, ie awful sanding lines. but hey I'm still happy with it considering I basically paid $100 for the plastics.

I can move the clamp around any way thats needed. just put it on there cause it happened to be the only one I found in the garage and I was happy it was the perfect size. its probably 15-20 years old but its stainless steel so still looks new.

well if you look at the pics you can see the red zip tie I put on the forks. it moved that much just pushing the bike from the shed in the back yard up the garage in front. the springs are .90kg which I think might be too stiff but they've felt good on the road so far this spring. We'll see how it handles on track this Wednesday. Peter Kates will be there I think and he's the one who did the suspension for me.

Unless I can think up something better (any suggestions) mine will be rolling with blue tape stuck all over it so some paint imperfections are the least of my concerns. I wasn't necessarily commenting on the paint but the overall prep work you've put in to make it a little more of a dedicated track toy.

So did you look at the radiator bracket? It's a helluva lot easier to safety wire the filter to it than drilling holes...

umm green tape, red tape, beige tape

not much you can do with street plastics other than taping it all up. plus you're riding there so we'll just get it all taped up and remove the signals and mirrors. I do recommend some block off plates for the mirrors if you don't have any already. although you can just leave the bases on if need be. Baketech's plates are pretty nice, got the HRC ones on my bike.

and Red I know exactly where you're talking about. gonna wire it up tomorrow. we'll see where I decide to run it when I get out to the bike.
