Road Atlanta May 12-13
Dropped stuff at the track and headed to the Country Inn. I am not 100% sure if we are running the Chicane or not. Turn 12 is the old one. The AMA version looks like a total screw up, the outer pit out looks more like a track than the track
It looks like the wall is MORE in play ![]() If we run the chicane I think I might like it. Not sure looking at it on the line though. You could drive in late which should give more corner speed mid turn. Or enter low give up a bit mid turn but enter faster. I think either way exit is about the same and while it is a bit slower it might enter the esses for an even straighter shot... More later

The chicane is strange. Kills your speed at a point that is normally all corner speed. It took me all morning to get the hang of it. I also was a bit off this morning (yes more than usual
) but in the afternoon it warmed and I clicked. I was running a lot of 1:50-1:52 where my previous best was 1:50 (I think) but that was without the chicane that probably costs a second or two. But I did click of a 1:49.11 Good day with lots of open space usually. In the morning there was a lot of people running slow and strange lines but with my funk that was kind of nice. Also the wind was gusting all day and sometimes the straight got a bit dicey (150 with a cross wind )

Was this a track day or a school?

Track day. I just got in since I had to cut out early
I got a wicked sinus headache and the ibuprofen just dulled the edge. Exertion made this hurt and my eyes loose focus so I got off the bike. After a sitting a session out I thought I was starting to recover until I moved wrong and about fell off the bleachers, I loaded up after that ![]() Overall a good two days. I ran 1/2 second less than previously (checked my notes ) but that was using the chicane in #3 which costs a second or two easy. I dislike the chicane versus the way we ran at Schwantz but not to much. Being wooly I did have to sample the new grass going down the hill between the old turn twelve and the new one to check the new pavement Left a graze mark right down the center. A couple of others tried it later but lost the front and left divots ![]() Road Atlanta is fun but I think the changes are ruining it. I can see a day I would not return.
