If you're gonna crash...

...it may as well be caught on tape, amirite?

As far as crashes go, its about as good as a rider could as for. Low speed low side. Bike literally only *needs* a new left rear set peg. Other than that, totally ridable. The leathers? Held up great. They have some "character" scuffs now.

Basically my line was bad, and I was pointed wrong entering that turn (slow and tight left hander). And I was going in a bit hotter than I should have (for me). Trail braked a bit to long, a bit to hard, and I was a bit to far to the outside of the turn (and it was windy so the track was dusty, especially off the riding line). I should of known better and it was a dumb mistake. Funny thing is, I'm used to getting feedback from my front tire... it usually *chirps* a bit when I am pushing it hard. And after it starts *chirping* I will typically back off at that point (i.e. finish the trail braking and cracking the throttle to transfer some weight to the rear). But that time, nothing. I heard and felt nothing until it was happening.

Anyhoo, a 30 second vid.

Good that you are OK. I noticed you seemed to be in low in that turn, nice work by the trailing rider as I noticed no urge to target fixate.

At least it looked good, huh?

Glad to know you weren't hurt.

Bummer. Glad you're okay and that the gear did its job. Definitely looked like your line was going to push you out wide, exacerbated by too much lean angle being asked of the bike at the wrong time. Was that Curt filming you?

Yeah I jacked the line up going in and rather than just let it go (i.e. the mistake), I *forced* a correction... and paid for it. Dumb mistake, actually.

Trailing rider is my buddy Kurtis (zortness) he's a solid club racer so he's seen his share of crashes. He was videoing me working with the rider in front of me (a buddy showing me some lines and it was hard for me to keep up with him and I just kinda blew it). But me, the bike and gear are all fine.

I had to watch that twice to see where the crash was.
I'm glad you're all right.
If you don't make mistakes you'll never learn. Just make sure they're affordable ones.
