SO I need some help deciding....

Now I know I'm going to get a completely bias opinion here BUT I need help deciding on which of 2 mid-season mega-trips to make.

I'm very interested in the McAdx Grattan Days (all 3)... AND there's a trip by a local group (Fishtail Riding School) to Mont-Tremblant in August for 2 days there.

BOTH are tracks I want to go to.... the McAdx Grattan Trip is lower cost per day but is 2x the travel distance (each way) for me to get there and would require an extra 1-2 days off work. It also comes sooner in the year and $$ for me is already tight, in August I'm due for a promotion....

SO, has anyone ridden BOTH tracks and can provide at least an objective opnion of which track would be more worth the trip? Or... something....

GAH!!!!!! I wanna do both... but can't

Scottie

JetBdude and NortherRR has done both tracks. I believe Jet wrote up a post with details of that track. But I can guarantee you that you will have a blast at Grattan. Good luck with this decision.

I know, part of me wants to do Grattan just to meet some McAdx guys as you all seem to be a great bunch :-)

Gahhhhh... if I can sell some GD Ducati parts it'd go a long way....

Grattan is not a super track in my opinion. Fun but compared to Barber or Road Atlanta there is no comparison. However the people and the way Abtech runs it makes it a don't miss event. LOTS of track time, lots of open track, great people, everyone is helpful x10, great flag crew and the dinner. It is at the top of my list every year since my first for that reason. Also remember that it is close to the 4th so that might help on vacation days.

As to the tracks themselves I believe JetBDude and NorthernRR have done both

Depending on your location you may be able to truck pool (I made that word up) with someone to Grattan to help on expenses.

Grattan is the best trackday experience I've ever seen. Personally, I think the track is a lot of fun even though it probably won't compare to the larger, more famous (expensive) tracks. It really is the people, however, who make it so much fun.

If I do any track days this year, Gattan will be my choice. There are other track days/organizations but I just want to show everyone here how fast I am.

Compared to filet mignon, this McBurger sucks.

I've never had a better time at any track than our trip to Grattan last year. And MrsSeamus not only had a good time but up until her couple days riding there under the tutelage and encouragement of the great people here, I couldn't get her to come more out of her "riding shell". It's just that good a time.

Think of it this way, they'll always be time to get to any track you want. Why not start at one that guarantees an awesome time plus will invariably give you new friends to go to Mont Tremblant with later in the year?

My bias lies only in the fact that I consider almost everybody on this site a friend, evenmoreso after last year's trip to Grattan. Can't speak bad about that.

This is a party with very good, safe trackdays included. Seriously.

Grattan is an underrated track in my opinion as well though.

Ditto!

Granted Grattan may not be a premiere track, but I find it hard to beat for pure enjoyment factor. Add in the folks behind the event and you'd be hard pressed to find a better bang for your hard earned bucks. In fact of all the tracks I've ridden Grattan squeaks in just behind #1. And if you can find 3 fun filled days with the same level encouragement, instruction, and camaraderie hats off to you. Don't forget there have been some recent improvements to the racing surface too. All in all the .org events are superior to any other gatherings I've attended.

You guys are just about to convice me to rework my finances with all of the hype you are giving to Grattan but I really need to find a truck pool (thanks for the word Hammer) to make it feasible.

I already told you to come to Grattan. as everyone has said its the most fun you'll have at a trackday. on track and off it was probably the most fun I've had in my life. If you're trailer is small my little 4 banger truck can do it. all I need is a hitch, but thats easily done. and as I said your GF can come too but it might be a little cramped in the back seat. rotating seats will help with that though.

Uh, I have seen that...

As far as your question Scottie, I haven't seen too many tracks yet, but can't recommend the MACADX event enough! The track is the most enjoyabe I have been on so far, some of everything. And the group of people makes it so much more than a trackday event.

The track itself is actually a lot of fun, and quite interesting, with very good variety, and some interesting elevation changes. The surface looks bad, but is actually quite grippy, and apparently has had some work done to make it better.

But the track itself is a bit player in the annual event that is MCADX Days. Unquestionably the best, most fun, friendly trackday event I've ever been blessed to attend.

Having ridden both tracks, in this situation, I would rather go to grattan any day.

I had fun at mt tremblant, but it is EXPENSIVE, they are VERY tight with noise restrictions and did I mention it is expensive?

Grattan is a trackday experiance like none other, I have only been to grattan one year(unfortunatley) and I have to say that I have NEVER had that much fun at a track day before. You WILL NOT regret making grattan your choice.

But if you do get a chance sometime you should really run calabogie...
