How NOT to tow a vehicle

Well, I suppose there is something to be learned from watching the mistakes of others. Remember to have that key in the ignition!

No, you can see him off to the right... they were so busy trying to steer they forgot to just hit the brake. They almost passed the rover!

Ouch.

It must be comforting knowing that your mistakes will never, ever be overlooked as long as there is a video camera in the area.

Watch the driver's arms, he never trys to steer out of the ditch.... even when his buddy tries to help him.

Re: How NOT to tow a vehicle

I think the steering is locked, if you notice they go a little right turn, then full lock left, and I think the steering locks? (assuming they had no key in ignition)

Re: How NOT to tow a vehicle

I once saw two fools doing this with a bike. They were leaving a drive way and the the car driver kind of hesitated and there was slack in the rope. Then he took off and when the slack was taken up it ripped the handle bars right out of the riders hands. All I could say was "what an idiot!"

Re: How NOT to tow a vehicle

Guess there's a reason they make towbars. I think it's illegal to tow with just a chain or cable, at least around here. I can see why...
Ouch!

Re: How NOT to tow a vehicle

Yikes! Hitting that pole had to hurt!
Reminds me of the time one of my high school friends snuck his dad's new car (some big Mopar, I think) out for a night of cruising. Came home late, thought he would shut the car off and cost through the last couple turns and into the driveway. Went all the way to the lock position and ended up cruising through the neighbors fence and into the side of the house.
Seemed like we hauled him around for quite awhile after that.

But they don't even let you pump your own gas.

They'll let motorcycle riders pump their own, though.

I use to have friends like this group (pick either vehicle). I now blame all their stupidity on the failure of the War on Drugs.

Re: How NOT to tow a vehicle

You've really, really got to trust the tow driver to tow this way... and you keep the chain short.
