I looked at getting an Avalanche before I bought the EXC. Still like 'em.
I want to drive a 3/4 ton with the 8.2!!!
I don't know if I would want to own and put gas in one though.

Nice, I will be using mine for work, plus between my new bride and myself, we have 4 kids and another on the way (she told me about that one right after I got back from the doctor, think it's another reason I can't sleep!). Probably going to need to get a bus or something, I can't bring myself to get a minivan, no way!

Skip the bus and get those kids mini-bikes. Start breeding some Nickys.

Thanks Leelover, I'm trying to convince the wife we need something "even bigger" than the Tahoe. It's got no cargo room with all the seats up, and I need CARGO ROOM! I'll be towing the trailer for a day at the beach!

And thanks for the congrats, I'm excited and nervous all at the same time!

I have a 03 F350sd 4 door short bed with the 6.0 diesel. i pull a 24x8 or 8.5 enclosed trailer. i am getting roughly 20.5 mpg on the highway, and 18 in town. anywhere from 9-11 pulling the trailer depending on speed, load, and terain. my dad has the excursion with the 7.3 and his gets better mileage than mine if i can remember correctly, he pulls a 26 or 28 ft camper. we both have tuners on them, i have a intake kit and the muffler removed. i had a 97 gmc with the 350 in it and it had no where near the power or fuel milage that my diesel does.
I am not post whoring, I am providing an abundance of useless opinion.

I've been in the 19 range when I take long trips with no load. I need to get all the power up stuff for my truck

A bit off topic, but a buddy of mine just bought a Unimog. He's an oilfield welder and is planning on turning it into his welding rig. Freaking awesome rig... he brought it to town to show it off. Bit of an older unit; he had it imported from a guy in Switzerland that restores Mogs for a living. Can't wait to see what it looks like with a deck and big ass welder.

I hope he doesn't test that ass welder out on you. That would be a bit painful.

I'll go off topic with you on this one too, just like I did with the Sprinter (which I see all the time since first posting that I hadn't seen any).

I wanted to bring one of the smaller 'mogs home from Germany with me but the costs associated with the conversions required were way out of my league. They won't even release it from customs until you have a licensed shop pick it up for you.

Ya he had to go through quite the ordeal.. brought it through a local licensed 'mog dealer/fixer. They are sold new in North America through Freightliner but new ones are very very pricey.

I have an 03 silverado crew cab 4x4 with the 6.0L. When I picked the truck up from the dealership it was gettin right at 17MPG. I havent been able to get it back over 13. Maybe my foot is heavier I dont know. Pulling my trailer( 8.5X 20) I get an average of about 12MPG.
