I think I found what I have been grazing for (if not oh well) The next tow vehicle is a 1992 Pinnacle by Thor 28ft Motorhome with a 454.
I like the shorter motorhome as I don't need or want a bunch of length. It seems to go up the driveway and have plenty of power. The interior is in great shape and the exterior good to excellent for the age.
I got a pretty good deal but need to do some work:
1) tires
2) ignition switch
3) left caliper is sticky
3) patch/replace windshield (functional now)
4) wash/wax
5) wire trailer brakes and power if I want it
After that it is just stock some stuff inside (plates, etc)

Grats dude! That's the same layout my wife had last go 'round. Very useful. Make sure you get a good look at all the plumbing lines, both the internal water carrying stuff and the powertrain kind as well. I had to do a number of repairs on hers. Some of those things have a lot of flex and well, ya know...
Did a shakedown run to Chattanooga today. It is approved for Mid Ohio. I still have a list of piddling stuff I want done but it has shaped up nicely and pulls nicely through the hills.

I ran to Chatanooga last weekend as a test. Prior to leaving I was using the generator to test things so that may have lowered the number a little. With the trailer running about 60-65 through a hilly area I got 6.4 MPG my pickup only got 10ish in similar. I even left the generator running while I was in the motorhome crack store (Camping World) to see how much the A/C would take off the heat at midday. So short answer probably 6-7 MPG running normal speeds (cruise control for a bunch)

It has a huge tank so fuel stops are a long way apart. OF course I also need to learn to optimize water and fuel load. Tire pressure also

So if I were to make it to Grattan what would it cost to rent the floor for a night?
...dude you ride an offroad bike with slicks, 1/2 the weight of a GS, double the suspension, with a browning 50 cal going off 32" from your skull as a daily freaking driver - I'd expect anything except a nitro dragbike to be bland by comparison - SSG

Just got a tour of the RV. I'm impressed. I could stand up straight and it even looked like I could use the shower without first going fetal. Looks like a good acquisition.
