If you go with the STS you can put the bike real close to the walls. You'll have room for 2 wide and probably one up front dead center.

XSIVSPD and I once transported two sportbikes in an enclosed U-haul 5x8 (inside width 4' 10"). It was doable, though a challenge when loading, and strapping down (no side door).

The 6' width is much more user friendly.

If you purchase some strapless transport stands or Pitbull trailer restraints you're fine with a 4' interior width.

The more I see that set up the more I want a full size van.

Does the van get filled with a strong smell of gasoline? I love the smell of gas, but was quickly annoyed by it after having my little scooter inside the Odyssey for more than an hour.

Those are awesome. I've had the hard plastic, lockable, pick-up truck boxes bolted on to the tongue also.

Fortunately I had a valid business reason for buying it and it's big enough to qualify for a full deduction in the first year! Certified used for less than half the price of a new one.

The TZ's leaded race gas/Motul mixture hangs around, but the other bikes don't really have that odor about them.

I like that set-up as well but it is a completely extra vehicle to insure and register which would influence my choice.

I was wondering about that...baxley or pitbull? I was thinking pitbull, but the baxley is dual purpose (could use em in garage, off trailer and I'd be more like seamus).

Looking for a used 6x10 trailer is like looking for people to sell my virginity to.

We have to register trailers here also. I like the idea of self-propelled storage too. I like to think of CBRs set up as an "enclosed pick-up truck"

Vans are great, but I like the idea of having a big hunk of steel between me and 500# of potential projectile. Tied down or not, it's freaky to me...but it;s otherwise a very sano solution, very low profile bike transport too, it is it's own security system.

Big hunk of steel for protection? You do realize you ride a motorcycle on the street too right? I feel more comfortable with 2 secured bikes behind me then on my usual commute to work.

The cargo vans usually have that steel cage-like partition. Sucks for reclining the front seats though.

We have to register the trailer but it's $20ish a year. The insurance is the bigger deal. An extra vehicles worth of maintenance also. Don't get me wrong I still really like it as a hauling option. I'd have a harder time justifying an entire extra vehicle sitting around.

I ride a bike on the street, it's a risk vs. reward scenario.
It's not a lot of fun driving a van dude.
Driving it the 99% of the time I wouldn't need that utility would downright piss me off. Of course, I used to drive vans, aerostars, astros, e-class, probably did 100k plus driving all over in the things, so I might be biased...but it SUCKS. Yes, pickups are different.

An AWD van would make an awesome second vehicle...

If I'm riding or driving... all the other vehicles just sit around. I'm done lying to myself. The KLR and my wife's car are the only "justified" vehicles.

It's an extended 110" wheelbase passenger model. Has a 300 HP 6.0 liter with a towing package, gets 13.5 to 15 mpg regardless if it's empty or filled with 3000 lbs of frozen bagel dough.

I've had cargo vans and passenger vans, and passenger vans make much better cargo vans than cargo vans do. Quieter, more versatile.

I leave that second seat in in front of the bikes, so that is a buffer to the 500 lb projectiles, not to mention the the 220 lb TZ. You could make that stronger if you cared to. As I said, the cargo area is 10' long with 5 passenger capacity or 13' long with only the 2 front seats.

The rear opening is 48" high and 53" wide. The van is 51" wide between the wheel wells, but opens up between the windows to a maximum of 70", though there are columns and other stuff to contend with.

ahh HA! I wasn't paying attention and didn't realize you had 2nd ROW seating...that's a pretty kickass setup you have
(I have seen this vehicle I just realized .)

You're totally right...my most enjoyable van was the astro AWD that was passenger converted to utility...much quieter and friendlier. I'm just debbie downer to vans in general

Dad's gone through lots of vans for his business.

He only bought one cargo van in that time.

not sure about the model number but it will be easily found on pitbull's site. AFAIK the stand is universal, you just have to buy the specific axle pins.
