New Trailer

Well due to a "career disruption" I didn't get the Evo camper thingy, but I sold my PedoVan (at a tidy profit btw) and decided to look for a trailer that I could pay cash for and pull behind our (Jessica's) FJ Cruiser.

I was getting pretty serious about a 5x10 or 6x10 enclosed cargo trailer, but decided to get an open trailer instead and save a bunch of money. The trailer will haul dirtbikes more often than racebikes and will fit in our garage.

I settled on this "Big Lug" 5x8. It was a little pricier than others I had looked at, but it's real beefy and seems built to last. It's all welded construction with a 2x2 1/4" angle iron frame and ramp, treated 2x8 plank deck and LED lighting.

I've got the Pitbull trailer restraint installed, and plan to get some little wheel chocks welded to the front crossbar for dirtbikes. I'd also like to have some sort of secure lock box on the front.

Very nice. I have a Texas Bragg 5x8 and its gets used all the time. You don't realize how much you need one untillyou have it. You'll enjoy it I'm sure...along with the trips to Home Depot, the dump, the gardening center...

Ya... I'm sure we won't run out of uses for it.

That's a heavy duty little trailer. I have a similar setup, but my trailer is much rustier, and my tongue isn't as sturdy. THat pitull restraint looks awesome. I just have a wheel chock w/ some eye hooks in the floor and I ratchet tie from the fork/axle to those, then some other ratchet straps on the mid of the bike to the sides, just to keep the rear from moving side-to-side too much. Works pretty well, but could be better.

Pretty close to what I have, except I have a diamond plate floor. I've already used it for stuff other than hauling a bike.

By the way, don't forget to get a spare tire.

That should make the fuel costs to Grattan much easier on the wallet than the box van......

Pimp My Trailer

big jobsite toolbox bolted to the tongue and spare tire and mounting kit from the Unique World of Princess Auto. Gawd I love that place and all its wonderful cheap Chinese tools and gear...

I also picked up a couple of surplus .50 cal ammo cans that I'd like to incorporate somewhere. And I think I'll knock up some wooden wheel chocks to fit 3 dirtbikes.

THen maybe some chrome skull hubcaps.

Just stick a couple of 2x4's laid on their sides for holding the front wheels. Tying down dirtbikes is minimal fuss cause they so light...

Yep I just want something basic so the front wheels don't turn.
