Wow - Sorry to hear about the job.

NPR interviewed Cal Worthington a few days ago - He said it was 'by far the worst he'd ever seen'. The numbers we see here on the production side certainly bear that out.

I have to wonder about these "Numbers" in the auto industry right now.

I went to the dealer (whom I have bought several vehicles from) and asked him to see what he had in a standard cab pick upas I was looking at trading my crew cab in. Never called. I was in there to have a warranty job done and seen him again, I told him that the truck was in service if he wanted to take a look at it for trade in value. I picked it up that evening and he had still not even looked at it. Still after 2 weeks no call. Seems like to me if you had a serious buyer in this market a dealer would be all over a sale. Maybe not?

I may go see what the others have to offer.

(threadjack over, sorry)

There's a funny thing happening right now as factories drop shifts a/o close down altogether... With the hugely aggressive programs (basically giving the damn things away) the dealers are moving some inventory but they can't get more so they're buying like crazy at the auctions and driving up used prices. ALso, daily rental companies have had their supply cut back so they are de-fleeting their units with much higher mileage, yet still pulling top dollar. So used car lots are full of high mileage rental returns with outrageous prices.

I picked my brother up a very clean lease return F150 SCrew Lariat at the dealer auction back in November for basically peanuts... The same truck now is pulling 20-25% more money.

Hahahaha...same f'in thing in many industries right now.

We slashed production, aggressively checked inventory, everyone reduced channel by 1/3 which all combined to put orders damn near to zero for a quarter...then we hit a bottom, everyone remembered why the previous channel inventory existed as lines shut down due to shortages, and panic ordering and double booking started. Classic underdamped system. We seem to have stabilized now...but damn is the volume still low, and for the forseeable future.

The lady has had several people ask her where she got the STi as people who want to buy them can't find them. We were driving down auto row, and noticed not a single Evo X was out on the lot too.

Well I accepted the offer from Hyundai. It involves a substantial pay cut from what I'm used to making but comes with major opportunities for advancement. We will see how it goes...

In the meantime I'm looking at an all-aluminum cargo trailer from these guys:

Triton Trailers manufacturer of innovative aluminum trailers used for recreational vehicles, cargo loads, and utility loads. Wide selection of aluminum trailers for work and play.

They make some pretty nice stuff.

Their prices are actually very competitive with the basic steel trailers I've looked at. Oh and it would definitely have to be yellow.

He hates it, I'm guessing...or is tired of Chris Hansen coincidentally being the same places he is.

Hey. Congrats on the new job. Which trailer you looking at. I really like my aluminum trailer. So light and easy to move around.

Good luck with the new company.
