Screws or Bolts for E-Track Installation
Finally gave up on the open trailer and got a 6x12 V-nose enclosed trailer with diamond plate metal floors. Got 3 sections of 10' e-track and I'm now pondering whether I should use screws (sheet metal type screws) or go with the bolt/washer/nut combo. The reason I'm in this dilema is because the trailer has diamond plate metal floors that are installed on top of some type wood (probably ply wood). So my worry is if I use sheet metal screws that won't be strong enough to hold down the e-track. However, if I go with the bolt/washer/nut combo, that's going to be quite a bit of more work. Any opinions from those that are knowledgable on this topic?

Re: Screws or Bolts for E-Track Installation
My e-track is attached with the self-tapping metal screws where the holes line up with the trailer frame; so in those spots, it's screwed into the frame. In all other spots, I drilled holes through the plywood floor and used bolts and nuts with large fender washers. Personally, I wouldn't trust the e-track to be just screwed into the relatively thin diamond plate flooring, but that's just me.

Re: Screws or Bolts for E-Track Installation
I have used 1/4" X 3/4" lag bolts with good success on Frenchier6's trailer as well as mine. Both have went together nicely and held strong. You will need 120 bolts per 10' section which is about 2 lbs, so 3 10' sections should take 6lbs. You can get them at Tractor supply, Rural King or a hardware store pretty cheap. I used a 18volt cordless drill to drive them down, a 3/8" corded drill will have trouble but a 1/2" will do it as well.

I drilled and bolted mine. If it comes loose it is because the trailer self destructed.

Re: Screws or Bolts for E-Track Installation
I installed some E-Track in my trailer using only wood screws. However, I ordered my trailer from the factory with beefed-up flooring (I think it's 3/4", but can't recall). While the screws are probably good enough with the thicker floor, you might want to reconsider if the floor in your trailer is thinner.
