Strapless Transport Stand installation questions
Hello everyone, first post here but could use some help outfitting my new trailer. Just got a new 6x12 v-nose Haulmark this weekend that I plan on fitting two Strapless Transport Stands to. They're on the way by FedEx now but when I get them I was wondering how best to mount them.
I'm concerned about them pulling out if I just bolt them to the trailer floor so I was wondering how others had installed theirs. Did you drill them into the trailer frame or did you use something else like a steel plate or fender washers?
I was gonna try and drill into the cross members but it seems there won't be one in the right place where I need the stands so any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

I have the pitbull ones, but, like with anything else I've installed (chocks, etrack), I've drilled a hole through the trailer floor and put a big washer underneath with a nut. The pitbull set up came with the bolt, large washer, and locking nut.

I added some aluminium plates under the floor, never used any straps and never had any problem.

Do too.

+1. For the floor of an enclosed trailer, which is pretty thin, I'd recommend plates rather than washers. If you have a metal supply place nearby, you can get 2"x1/8" flat stock scrap for free. I've also seen it sold in Lowes or Home Depot.
Even on my open utility trailer with 2x6s, I have extra plates under my tie down points and washers on the bolts that hold down my Baxleys.

Thanks for the replies guys, really appreciate it! I'm gonna go with anchor plates the way you suggested. I was hoping to go some reinforcing route but I haven't done anything like this before (neither have any of my friends - only a couple ride and don't have trailers) so I was kinda lost as to how to go about it.
How did you get the holes in the plates BTW? I don't have access to a drill press so I was thinking maybe use a die punch like this?

Thanks again for the help - oh, and here's a pic of the trailer (can't wait to take it to the next trackday )

Hmm. Plates underneath is a good idea....

I don't think that will go through the thickness you want. You don't need a drill press, just a drill and bit. Be sure to lock down the piece so it doesn't twist on you. Or you can get plates or angle with holes in them.
Good luck.

Yep. A handheld drill will work.
As noted, make sure the piece can't spin but also be ready for any kickback from the drill if the bit catches. Take your time and let the drill do the work (don't lean too hard into the drill). 1/8 thick plate will take some time to get through.
And as the old axiom goes: measure twice.

I went to Home Depot today and found some steel plate but it was only 26 gauge so I thought it was kind of thin. The trailer place that helped me get my rig was nearby so I popped in to see if they could help me out. The salesdude that gave me a great deal had left for another job but the owner was there and he was a big help. He also owns a salvage yard nearby that does the work on the trailers if the owner wants tiedowns or whatnot put in and he sold me a couple of thick steel plates that I think'll do the job well
Like you guys, he told me to just use a handheld drill. After that I spent the afternoon painting primer on the floor so that I'll be ready for the stands and tiedowns when they get here.
Have to say this site has been really helpful with figuring out how to outfit my trailer. I got a lot of great ideas from the other posts here. I was gonna go with just anti-skid exterior paint for the floor until I saw the posts here with carpeted floors and I thought I had to do that too
Thanks a lot guys!

Will do! Probably be a while before everything gets done though - works really busy and I'm trying to catch a trackday in a couple of weeks so my butt's really getting kicked with all the stuff I'm doing.
Hopefully I'll get everything done before that trackday and we can be rolling in style
Oh yeah, I had one more question. What's the best way to attach the carpet to the trailer floor? Do you just use a staple gun?

If you want the good stuff, Google "Wing Walk Paint".

How well do you want it attached?
1) Permanent: Liquid Nails..... Just remember very Permanent
2) Semi Permanent: A Latex Carpet Adhesive
3) Not so Permanent: Staple.... it works but has some drawbacks.... bubbling, staples and tubeless tires..... (and don't say, can't happen.... seen it.)

Blending
On my gate I used strips of ladder tape. I can't find a picture here or FBo but there is one around. It has worked well.

When I was installing my strap on I used double sided tape.
It worked well, but it tore my hair out when I took it off

I'm gonna look into double-sided carpet tape the next time I head over to Lowe's. Seems like less work than an adhesive but without any nasty staples or tacks left lying around - that was a good point about the tires, hadn't thought about that.
