1984 6.2 duramax

In my on again off again motorhome search I found one real close with 36K on a 1984 6.2 (assume it is a Duamax). Anything bad about that motor? I think a diesel would tow better...

The Duramax (Isuzu diesel) didn't come out until 2002... the old 6.2 and 6.5 diesels were sort of converted gas V8s afaik and were huge pieces of shit.

Truck only gets 10MPG (sorry no liter conversion) and has no place to sleep, no a/c hiding place for AL summer, no awning built on, no fridge..... If I could get 8MPG I would be happy (it is a 27ft Allegro)

Yep...a 6.2 is a converted 400. Which is a 283 gas engine from the 50's stretched to its limit, the 400 had problems even as a gas engine.

Pretty much every single one converted to diesel cracks the heads. They all make nothing for power, it didn't have enough for an old Buick (er, maybe it was an Olds...anyway, it was a $500 car) sedan we had with one.

You don't want that engine.

Thanks, my brother told me there was one to avoid as it was a POS but the new ones were great.
