Research Complete...Pulled the Trigger

Picked up the new tow vehicle today. 05 GMC 2500HD, 6.6L Duramax, all the bells and whistles. 41K on the odometer and it all worked down to $24k. It's kind of loud driving around with bells and whistles but she rides kinda nice.

Almost snagged an 06 Dodge 2500 Cummins TD with 50k on it for $20k yesterday but alas, my trigger finger was slow and another phoneslinger beat me to the punch by 5 minutes. Bastage.

I'd like to thank Big Oil for doing what they do best and making this a simple "wait it out" procedure for just the truck I was looking for at a ridiculously low price.

I used the visit today to ride some roads down to GA thinking I'd check out the truck, get an idea if I wanted to talk about it and ride on home to a friend's BBQ (nice but nothing spectacular minus the squid flogging near the border. What's that you said about my weak old 800?). Instead, I ended up making a detour to Home Depot to pick up some ratchet straps and loading the Viffer in the truck to bring both home. It was just too much truck for too little money to pass up.

So, anyone need a highly competent rockcrawling, mudrunning Jeep Wrangler? I'm going to miss her but she's gotta go.

Didn't have my normal camera with me so all I got was this awesome phone pic.

Watch your head getting in. Looks like the roof is about chest level for you. Might need to have a sunroof installed so you don't get a kink in your neck.

Are you crazy? Have you seen the price of diesel?!

J/K. Doing yard work today that I blew off yesterday to go look at this truck.

edit: Actually, does your brother happen to have any ramps for sale? I've got a VFR in a truck and no ramp to get it out yet.

He has mine that I used before getting the trailer and I can likely get him to bring it down tonight or Monday....

as a suggestion, get the ramp tops and use a 2X8 at least 8 foot in length as the height of the truck with normal ramps will bottom out the bike at the top of the ramp. I used these when I had my ranger and the 954, worked well. Stand on one and use the other for the bike.

Nice truck, and a good deal.

That particular 800 has eaten many a squid. I've seen it.

I looked at those then walked across Lowe's, picked out a 2x8x8, laid one end on a stack of boards and the other on the floor. Then I stood on it and it bent so severely it felt like it was about to break.

Went over to Home Depot and picked up a pair of aluminum folding ramps. Even with those, it flexed pretty good when the VFR was coming down. But she's back on terra firma and ready for the week's commute.

That's a screamin' deal.

You think you like it now? What 'till you hook a trailer up to it. You'll have to have about 10,000 lbs behind you before you even notice it's there.

Next step: Convert it run on biodiesel and start trolling around behind restaurants.

Seamus, I hope you and your, hmm, truck have a good time together moving things around and towing and doing, hmm, truck kind of things together so that you and your, hmm, truck have a productive relationship.

Thanks, OF. I'm hoping for the same

It's going to be difficult to establish the same relationship with the truck that I had with my Jeep but I think I'm ready to make the commitment.

I missed this...boards are for buildings, not ramps.

Nice truck, congrats my friend!

This IS the time to get such a thing...all I have to do is unload a V10 gas Excursion first. I am sure it would sell fast....if the third seat area was packed with 20's, maybe!
