Saw the new for 250 today when I took my truck in for the Out of Province Insprection. It looks like, although I am not sure what the vents on the side are for.

Same thing they are for on all the vehicles that have them.
Looks.
Although I don't think they look good on anything.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government.
I guess I should clarify. I don't like the gaping holes with chrome aplique look. The "gills", like those on the 575 I like. The Z8 vent would look better to my eyes body colored and sans chrome. The M3 is alright the way it is.
It's those goofy shaped holes just there for no real reason that I don't like.

+1 on the ginormous chrome grilles. Some designer at Dodge that started that needs to be dragged out back and bludgeoned to death.
It's not the designers' fault. It's the Marketing dude who figured out that most people don't want that so they put it on the lower level models and then make the more expensive models w/ a color matched grill. The people that are willing to pay for that asthetic feature do, and those that don't still buy b/c of other more necessary features.
If it were up to the designer they all would look the same and would all look the best according to the designer's eyes.

If Detroit doesn't stop it with that shit, they aren't going to like the result.
Of course, the new Tundra is hideous in person, so maybe Detroit will be OK...

Honda does the same shit. I wanted a nicer stereo in my Civic, but to get it I had to buy the nice wheels and sunroof as well. The diff from an EX to an LX (or maybe I have them backwards) was like $2k+. On a Civic!

Option packages are in. Every now and then I dream and tinker with the "build your own" sections on certain websites and it pisses me off every time the amount of stuff I'd have to buy in order to get the one or two things that I would like. If you want a premium sound system you have to buy a nav system and a bunch of other crap. If you want HID headlights you have to buy rain sensing wipers and automatic window shades.
The $1-$2k worth of options that you want end up costing you double or triple because of the "packages".
That thing is the ugliest new truck on the road, hands down. Only angle I liked it from was the rear, I do like the taillights.
The rest is awful.

It's not on the web site, but I've heard that they will have a diesel F-150 next year?
The Diesel should be an option for all vehicles, With higher tow caps on the Tundra and Ram, I would not be suprised to see a F-150 with a Diesel, and 10,000 Towing. I would want a brake upgrade as well.

They are for removing heat. With the increased EPA stuff and low sulfer fuels, etc...diesels get spinned more and there's more heat. You won't see the 6.4 in a van now. The 6.0 was a tight fit, and they did actually get an intercooler on the van, but they never had any intercoolers on the 7.3's, in vans.

Yes there are lots of loyal Toyota buyers, they are also coming in to trade their old Tundras. I'm not talking about them though... I'm talking about the Ram, F-series and silverado owners coming in to trade. Did you know it will hit 60 in 6 flat?
I think it has an ugly face but a nice body. Sort of an automotive "paper bagger". If they'd paint the grille instead of plastering it in fake chrome it would look a lot better. I think the new GM trucks are uglier though. The F150 is the only really handsome looking pickup IMO.

Toyota just released a 4.0 high-tech diesel for foreign markets that would be awesome in a half-ton. I don't expect that to come to fruition any time soon though.

I don't remember being repulsed by the new GM in person, but I'll have to pay more attention.
Tundra definitely has great numbers, and I am sure it is a good truck.
Maybe it's a double bagger with....eh, all the right attributes from the neck down.
I really liked the tailights, but the rest of the truck looked like a mix of all the trucks on the road. Typical Japanese rip off horrid styling.
I'm pretty sure their freakin' designers are right here in OC right next to everyone else's, I don't understand why they can't shake off that method of styling...

Indeed it was designed in the US at Calty. I think they did a much better with the Tacoma.... conservatively aggressive. Of course, the Tacoma design actually came from Hino, and they won some awards for it.
I think with the Tundra they are just trying too hard to shake the conservative Toyota image and the end result is overstyled. I think this is what happens when you pay too much attention to the focus groups instead of letting the Howard Roarks of the world do their thing.
For me there is enough to love about the truck that I can ignore its ugly face.
