The guy at the dealer told me last night when I picked up my truck that the New 2008 has two options for the Diesel as well. I have not been able to verify this yet.

He stated that you can choose from the Twin Turbo 6.4 or a Single Turbo 7.3. If the 7.3 is the same motor as the Older Super Duty series then people should be happy cause that motor had allot of potential.

Fuck... it's one thing to not know what you're talking about, but it's a whole new crime when you just start making shit up.

Yeah, that's kind of dumb. The 7.3 wouldn't meet the "new" EPA stuff. Still, outstanding motor. I burn used waste oil or transfluid in mine mixed with the diesel. I would not think trying that with the newer ones.

I was told part of the problem with the newer diesels is the rail pressure is much higher, meaning the dirt molecules in something like waste oil are much more likely to hurt something.

I'm certainly not going to pour used ATF into mine!

I just mix it down with diesel after filtering it. It burns with no measured change in performance, mileage or power wise, from my use. Feels and sounds a little smoother, potentially from the increased lubricity.

    I don't think I'd try putting any in a 6.0 or 6.4, a 24v Cummins, or a Duramax.

Yeah, I'm using a no alcohol Redline lube in the DMax (when I remember) due to the reduced lubricity of low sulfur fuels, but I don't really notice a difference.

For you diesel heads out there, when did you start using Synthetic Oil? if ever? I have read that you can get a Amsul Diesel Oil that will last for 25,000 Miles.

You have to use upgraded filtration, and it's probably a good idea to send out oil samples for analysis.

I used Shell Rotella T synthetic in my bus...and the bikes and the cars. Then I use it up in the diesel fuel...

I do it roughly by the check engine light.

I use the blended synthetic Rotella "blue bottle" from WallyWorld in mine. The diesel forum guys seemed to think it was good oil.

The cost of oil is low compared to the engine, and I didn't want to mess with add on gadgets while my warranty was in effect. (though it did recently expire)

You have any biodiesel available in the Republic out there?

Finally found some here. Tried some. Smoothed it out like the oil does in the diesel. I think it's only B2, so it doesn't have a lot of bio in it.

The only station I've seen is in SD and he inflates the price. I refuse to pay it.

On the way to Grattan I used some, probably 3/4 tank worth and didn't notice anything but a small change in smell.

Are you kidding? You just filter the oil that comes out of a motor, mix it w/ diesel and pour it into your gas tank?

    No shit?

Others use fryer oil from resturants.

Diesels will burn damn near anything...

You need a heated tank in the colder months to get it flowing. I haven't used waste vegetable oil myself.

Yeah, I do it regularly now. I just mix it by pouring it in the tank with diesel in it already. Most I've ever done was four gallons of waste oil in something a decent amount short of a quarter tank. I brought a couple extra filters along, and I was fine. There are guys that go even heavier on the mix because they have more available, and they have really nice filtration set ups. They use hydraulic oil, oil from transformers, just about anything.

When I worked in rentals we bought a dozen 2004 6-liters for drilling crews and every single one had its turbo pile up and went back for a new motor. Cost us a fortune sending Duramax replacements to our clients. Problem was, the front ends would go out of the GMs because they couldn't take the abuse like the solid axle Ford.

I got my truck with everything I wanted (convenience package 1 which includes, AC, power windows/locks/mirrors, sliding rear window)except 1 thing, intermittent wipers. To get them I would have had to get the SR5 package 2 which of course has a bunch of other crap and that stupid chrome grill and rear bumper. its 2007, every vehicle should have delay on their wipers.

anyone know if I can just order the intermittent wiper switch or do I need to get the whole wiper motor also?
