Nice. I'm sure Jess is going to just love riding shotgun in that jump seat...

You'd better hit the road now so you'll reach Grattan by June!

    Now that would be awesome.

Cheaper than a trailer and self-propelled. Cheaper than even a small crusty old trailer.

My vote. Although Hammer's suggestion about INS is pretty good also.

    Camel towing?

It would have worked with the old paint job... hahaha

Nice truck, I have had thoughts of something like that for awhile but when I got the truck, I figured that I'd use it and a trailer instead.

I say just resell the damn thing. I drove a very similar 2002 freightliner (with grumman olson body) for a year at a previous job. man what a hunk of shit. at first I really thought it was an 87 and I drove it in 2003/2004. The 03s were much nicer and would make decent bike haulers but we had all diesels. the 2 newest ones we had didn't have the governors set and topped out near 100mph. I never had the balls to get it going that fast because it was scary as hell at 85.

as long as the track isn't far from you it should be pretty sweet.

That's the one And to think you used to commute to and from the base with that, I can only imagine what some of the gate guards used to think.

I don't remember seeing a condenser under the bonnet... but it's got goofy little cool air vents that open up. Or you can just drive with the doors open.

Do you need a commercial driver's license? You would just need a chauffeur's license in the states. >10,000 GVW <26,000.

Best I can figure is it's a 14' P30 model Utilimaster. Seems they're now using a Ford chassis rather than GM in these.

    Found this:

For the 3 days a year you'll need it up there.

I thought about these once upon a time. Down here it's a long way to the track, so I skipped it, but some friends that live close to the track use a retired tool truck and like it.

This will only be used for driving the ~10 miles or so to Race City... and maybe once in a while to Edmonton. No way in hell I'd attempt a run to Miller with it.

Yeah, at the prices these go, I don't blame you at all for grabbing it.

NDD's roommate just got an ex-service Cummins Dodge pick-up with boxes on the bed for $2500. I thought that'd make a killer track hauler too.

in the states all he'd need is a regular class D drivers license because its GVWR is under 26,001lbs. if it had commercial plates I think he'd just need a DOT medical card and the insurance would be different. but none of this really applies since he's one of the leaf-toting Canadians.

and AC the AC in the piece of junk I drove was the doors and vents open. those little foot vents are actually pretty nice, push it forward and it'll scoop in air nicely.

Just mount a motorhome AC unit to the top of that sheephauler of yours, and if you want more space, I'm sure one of those big dome tents (I got a 10x18 for $100) could be easily modified to attach to the big door to make your own "pop-up".

But if you are in the mood to spend big money on the motorhome, insurance and gas, then buy 2 and send one my way, with a full up gas card

Actually I have seen class A ones for under $20K and it would replace my P/U as the tow vehicle. Plus nicer digs and Mom-O-Sheep may be able to come to Barber (and Dad for sure)
