Frame slider bolt broken

I didn't even crash! lol! While loading the bike up Sunday my dad grabbed the frame slider and it pulled right out. On further inspection the bolt broke!

So uh, how do I get it out preferably w/o drilling it?

Not sure as I haven't looked close enough yet. I think it's "down in there".

Re: Frame slider bolt broken

Both sides have open threads (do not bottom out). Take a center punch and peen the broken bolt in the center. Take a smaller drill bit and drill a hole in it all the way through. Then get an ez-out screw extractor and drill a hole just big enough for the ez- out to fit in, remember to use the largest ez-out you can but not too big as to get into the mounting threads. Take a hammer and peck the ez-out into the hole you drilled in the bolt and easily back out the bolt while pecking on the ez-out at the same time. Be careful to not pry the ez-out......if it brakes you will have some issues then. But that is why I suggested to drill all the way through the bolt also. When you drill make certain to drill straight into the axis of the bolt.

I could be wrong, but I think this is a motor mount...please hold.
EDIT: yep, it's a motor mount, but it is the one that can be drilled all the tay through (not into the block/head or anything). Unfortunately it broke right where the motor mount and the chassis mount meet. Whew. Say that 10 times real fast!

That is what I was trying to convey, but may not have been clear.

If you need any help call me.

You can try sears, but I like some of the other types of extractors than the reverse screw type. On of the best I had was actually a tapered square with a sharp edge on one side. Very effective.

Get a fricken laser.

Who made the crappy bolt? You should call the frame slider CO. or send them back there crap with a dry piece of shit to let them know what you think of thier crap.

Good luck

Re: Frame slider bolt broken

if you can get a left handed drill bit you would be better off than an easy out. i worked for sears part time in the evenings and the easy outs they sell are not the best and they do not cover broken ones

hahahaha. well the funny part about this is after coming back from my trip to Plainfield and after driving non stop for 4 1/2 hours (the kids were sleeping) the thing came off. the problem now is when I had my OPPA moment, the screw on the inside looks like it wont move because of how the outside is pretty much screw up (sorry Hammer I fell to tell you that part )

Also try an auto parts store, NAPA or something like that should have a decent quaility set. Or try Northern Tool if you got around there.

Notice that when I stop real quick for gas.... didn't want to wake anyone Had to order a new set of plates...
