need help

k4 gsxr1000 with 35,000 miles is starting to act up. it seems like the ignition is turned off when im feathering the throttle at around 4500 rpms. no problems under load ony when either feathering the throttle or during slight deacceleration. it acts as if the kill switch was thrown but only for a split second. once while it happened i saw the tach drop all the way to 0 and then fire back to the approprate rpm. any ideas?

Re: need help

Sounds like a faulty bank angle detector, exactly the same symptoms and a known GSXR issue.

Re: need help

I believe on your bike it is located in front of the battery. Check the manual for the exact location though. You could remove it and bypass it just to see if that is in fact the issue, if it is order a new one and replace it.

You did not let Roddy ride it did you?

If you did....sell it

Re: need help

For the bank angle switch: I've never done it, but a quick guess would be you could put an ohm meter across the terminals coming out of it and see if it goes open->closed or closed->open as you tilt it.
