Looking at finally getting a new ride!

So I was running errands after work yesterday and what happened to be across the street, a Zuki dealer. I figured it would fit into running errands since I am looking for a new lawn mower and this place sells John Deere stuff as well. I walked in and was looking around, I've been looking to go Suzuki again since they are the most comfy for me.

I was looking at what they had left, not much, and all I saw were a few '08 600's. I don't really want another 6 as they are truly buzzy to me when doing general riding. I was about to leave when a salesman came up and asked if he could help. Told him I was looking for a 750 but wasn't having much luck. Well, it was my lucky day. He told me they have 2 '07 750's held over yet and they are ready to clear out. I took a look at them and piddled around the lot a bit, just for kicks. I'm going back today after he told me that they are selling them for dealer cost to make room for their '09's. Guess the right place at the right time, and I get what I want.

Do it!! I'm a Honda guy, but the zooks are venerable bikes, the 750's especially. While I've only had a few hours in the saddle of one, I recommend it.

Essentially you get a 600 chassis with a bigger engine. Not a bad combo for street riding and the occasional track day. I'd be very surprised if you were disappointed in a 750 - I have yet to meet anyone or hear about anyone who has been disappointed.

My buddy has an '06, and when I rode that I was so surprised that it had almost the same power of the 954, and it was lighter, etc. It truly is a badass bike...I'd say go for it as well!

Backwards hat and shorts are ALSO key.

Honestly, forget what the other squids ride. If you like the bike and it fits you, I'd say you'll be rather pleased by the 750.

However, you must post pics when and if you get it - along with your impressions!!

Have you ever owned one, Sheep? I know you rode some at KSSS. I actually like mine a lot. Still like my Honda, too.

Bikerboy, the 750 is by all accounts a great bike. - Go for it if they give you the right deal!

Yeah, go for it! I rode my friend Doug's. It felt just like my 600, but with more motor!

Should be picking it up tonight. Found it quite amusing that I went in after work to fill out some of the paperwork right before they closed and I had on a ball cap, flip flops and a beater as it was really damn hot here. I felt like a squid when I walked in. Going to break out the Dainese jacket and gloves and the old AGV to pick her up and put a few miles on tonight though. Jeans and boots as well. I won't be a statistic if I can help it!

Test rode it last night, a real test ride. Love the power and it's like the thing's on rails! Haven't rode a 750 since my '92 gixxer 750 and oh wow, what a difference!

Blue/white one. I wanted a bit of light color on it so it doesn't get so hot. I had a black/purple '92 and the thing would get super hot when it sat outside too long. Another thing I really like is that it has blue seats instead of black. Also really like the signals integrated in the body work. This way I don't have to buy aftermarket right away!

Only thing I am wary about is the stubby exhaust, but I've already been browsing around for a long pipe to replace it with. Just never know.

Exhausts have come a long way. I much prefer the stubby pipe on the GSX-R's. If I had to do it, I would keep it. There are a few companies that offer a stubby slip-on and also a "longer" option which mounts in the traditional location, albeit with a short tube and shorter can.

Here's an example of an Arrow system on my friend's K6 600:

I like that system, I like the little bit of extention. I was detained from getting the bike on Friday and Saturday due to another weekend at the hospital with my wife, so I'm going to have to take delivery tomorrow. I am currently in Iowa for the day for my job, so that rules out today. It's bought and paid for, so that part is good to go. I can't wait to take her home and get some pics up on here!

Went out yesterday and picked up a new pair of flip flops and a few more beaters, gotta look tha part!

Looking into buying a new helmet, just not sure what make yet. Going to go for a ride tomorrow after I pick her up and start looking around. Been a while since I've had to go gear shopping so I'm expecting to be very surprised and have some fun doing it!

New stuff is always fun.

I'm not sure if you're a brand-loyal type of guy, but Suomy USA closed their operations here, so they might have some stuff on close-outs. Other than that, Arai and Shoei are also top notch helmets.

I'm sure others will differ, but what's your head worth?

Oh, and we'll be awaiting pictures!!

Strong debate today as they have an '08 600 that I'm thinking about too...love the 750 but the insurance is more lenient on me with the 6...been on hold...plus there's a seal leak on the 750, thus why I don't have it yet...they can swing me a better deal on the 6 as well...what to do...what to do...

Quite the dilemma indeed. I guess it depends on how much you save on insureance AND the bike.

If it were me and I was running the bike dual purpose (street & track), I'd go with the 750. While the new 600's make terrific power, I think in the long run, you won't regret getting th 750 because it will probably be all the power you'll ever need. (Want is a totally different ball game. )

If this matters, I think on the '08s they welded the cat to the headers, so you can't get rid of it with a slip-on anymore, you'd need a full system.

I really like the looks and sound of the (stock) stubby on my '06. It makes plenty of noise for the street and you can still really hear the howl of the intake.

I rode an '06 600 with a stubby aftermarket and I guess I'm getting old, but it was just too damn loud. Part of the problem is that it's right under your ear.

One problem I've found with the stock is that it doesn't work with any body kits I've looked at for the track, so I guess I'll be replacing it eventually.
