"Delta-3" top center intake scoop, scavenges more air to help improve airflow even further
Shell incorporates a reduced gap between the shield and shell to minimize wind turbulence over the shield and onto the shell
Chin vent design, with dual-pivot hinge mechanism, allows for a more easily operable single span vent gate with an increased airflow capacity
Enhanced organic shell shape, bottom trim and (non-removable) neck roll which curve in at the bottom to give a more natural appearance, which also helps minimize wind turbulence
Rubber breathguard, designed to better direct fresh air to the inside surface of the shield while at the same time directing hot breath down and away from the inside surface of the shield
SNC "Structural Net Composite" shell construction, utilizes a patented shell construction that incorporates a structural net reinforcing material, embedded between Arai's® exclusive Super complex laminated construction layers, which improves resistance to shearing forces. This allows for more weight to be removed from the top of the shell, both reducing overall helmet weight and improving the center of gravity
Shell mold features to strengthen the shell, enhance airflow and overall appearance
Type-8 diffuser design with redesigned and improved intake and exhaust ports to both improve airflow and reduce wind turbulence
"Dry-CoolTM" liner material, with a rich color and perforated satin feel, utilizes water cells to improve moisture and heat transfer from your head into the airflow around Arai's® unique space frame liner. Leaves your head dryer and cooler at the end of a long or hot ride and allows the liner to dry much faster in between rides. Dimensions and mounting method of both the cheek pads and head liner are the same as previous RX-7RR series. Removable liner/cheek pads.
SAJ side pods have a lower profile and are much more flush with the shell of the helmet to provide a much cleaner look
I have a Shoei Syncrotech modular helmet (my main hemet)
It is very comfortable, and the flip up is extremely convienent.
My wife wears a Nolan full face. don't know what model, and I just realized it has no DOT or Snell sticker! I don't see were one has come off, does this mean it is not DOT approved? I have to check this out!
Also have a HJC "Switch CL-14" that is both DOT and Snell approved.
That will be my track helmet initially till I get another Shoei. Maybe an X-11?

Art, that's a cool looking helmet. Which one is that?
I have never had a lot of confidence in HJC's...
I also have a Shoei Rf-200. It is old and the foam is coming apart.
Do you think that would be better?

If it's more than 5 years old it ain't gonna pass and you probably shouldn't be using it anyway.
Spring for a new X-11.
Oh yeah, forgot about that! They do have a shelf life don't they!

I will spring for a new X-11 for you buddy!
Now that Phobe has offered to buy me a helmet (thank you!), I am not sure that the Shoei is my only choice.
What are the opinions on equivalant Soumy, Shark, Arai, or ?

See post #1! Gonna get a new dark shield for it at the motorcycle show later this month.

That was pretty generous of me wasn't it?
Go for the one that fits best.

Yes 5 years. The foam is also part of the protection don't skimp on your own hide
Also be aware that a flip up will fail inspection at a trackday as will a helmet over 5 years (at most promoters).
Upgrade your head may thank you
Here is my RX-7, I also had a Blue Tommy Gun but passenger sheep crashed me I have not tried to get it checked and may not. I am considering getting a X-11 for the street as my backup
I have an HJC AC-11, and to be honest I've only ever tried on a few other helmets. With my limited exposure, I want a Scorpion EX-700. It's gotten great reviews, and it was comfortable as hell. Plus I love the anti-fog shield.
What's my drug of choice? Well, what have you got?
What do you do, collect them? One for each day of the week!
