does anyone know if there's a big difference between the two of them, or perhaps a different suggestion. It needs to be available at calsportbike.com since I'm going to use a gift card from them.
Thanks.

I have had 2 GPX suits. Be sure you are get a type R (newer) if you buy one (the picture looks like the earlier suit). The seams, number of panels and construction are much improved.
I 'tested' the first suit by sliding 50+ feet on turn 2 of Baa-rber. No injury to me and the suit did it's job. I choose not to fix it as I was little unhappy with the forearm which split. The type R has more rolled seams and fewer seams due to larger panels. My only gripe is no shoulder vents and less perforation which is a nice thing to have in Alabama. I 'tested' the type R in turn 5 at Baa-rber with almost no damage to the suit at all. Though admittedly this was at a lower speed than the first suit.
Oh and for reference on the first suit I also wore about 80% through the toe of an Alpinestar boot. In other words I slid a ways and was close to testing the abrasion resistance of wool

Thanks for your input. I had read your previous posts and they were very helpful to determine quality and what can be expected from JR suits.
I'm thinking it might be a good investment for you to buy stock shares on Joe Rocket at this pace... j/k. Thanks again.

Well, here I am, afraid of the flash, in my new leathers (GPX-R), boots, and helmet.
The leather suit feels fine. My back is too wide for the length of my legs I guess. It feels fine from the waist up but just about 4" too long from the knees down and I've got long legs.
It's also pulling on my left shoulder, but that has nothing to do with the suit. I had surgery on that shoulder and having a floating collar bone doesn't help either. Overall I'm very satisfied with the leathers.
The A* boots (SMX-plus) are very comfortable. They seem to hold my ankle very well and allow enough movement to not to make it difficult to shift.
The KBC helmet, well, it's a less than 200.00 $ helmet. Fits fine and it's going to be perfect for summer since it allows a lot of air to come in from the chin area. Holds in place better than my previous helmet which was an HJC, also under 200.00$.
All together, I'm very happy with the gear.
I'm ready for Grattan.
