Anyone know where to get leathers dyed?
I am sitting here with the prospect of picking up a new suit for the track days this year. However, it's kind of hard to justify with a perfectly good set hanging in my closet, save for one thing. They are black with purple and pink on them. They matched the '92 or '93 CBR600 back in the day, but now they look kinda . I was hoping to find someone to perhaps be able to dye the accent pieces, as well as perforate them. It's an old Fieldsheer suit that I really can't justify letting go to waste. Anyone out there have an idea where something might be done? I contacted a custom leather outfit about a year ago. The lady there was nice, but said that due to the highly toxic nature of the dye and her ailing health, she got out of doing that sort of thing. Don't know if that was just an excuse to not want to do something so tedious, but she seemed genuine?
Any ideas?

I was gonna say what Hammer said! Both those places can most likely hook you up with dye and perfs. A friend of mine "painted" hers with some sort of vinyl or leather paint and I think it held up pretty well. I'd rather have it done professionally.

Just put the suit on and have one of your buddies drag you around behind is pickup - It'll fix that right up.

Do too.

Paint the bike to match the leathers. Black/Purple/Pink are the new Mauve/Teal/Salmon anyway.

I'd do chartreuse, but some dude north of the border already picked that.
I rec'd and email from Bill saying that I need to take it to a T-shirt artist and have it airbrushed. He doesn't do dyes apparently. There's a place not far from the house I'll call this week and check out.
Anyway, thanks for all who added their two cents. When I get them done, I'll post a pic or two.

Vanson does a re-dye service, as part of their reconditioning service, but I don't know if they'll redye brands other than their own...

Re: Anyone know where to get leathers dyed?
I got some leather dye from a shoe repair shop. The brand name is "Fiebing's". I dyed my old SIDI boots that were blue to a black color.
They seem to be holding up well. I would get some of this and give it a shot, the bottle was $5. Works well if you use a foam type painters brush.

I have to have a 1 pc altered and was planning on going to Barnacle Bill. Does anyone have an idea of a price range for alterations?

Likely depends on the extent of alterations. He does good work at very reasonable pricing, and is fun to talk to. I'd give him a call, tell him what you want to do, and he'll probably give you an estimate.

Unfortunately it's gonna be a pretty major alteration. I'm a shrimp at 4'11" so he's gonna have to shorten legs and torso. Basically take it apart and rebuild it. I'll give him a call though. Glad to know some other ppl have used him and been pleased with his work
