Ordered some new boots for 2010

I've gotten used to looking like a Stormtrooper from Star Wars, with my white boots. I rather like them, and it makes it easy for friends and family to spot me out on the track. The only time I don't like them is when my Aprilia is spraying oil all over them .

A couple of years ago I had the Oxtars (who later changed their name to TCX), and really liked them, but found the soles wore out quickly, and it was very difficult periodically to find replacement toe sliders. I more recently switched to the Sidi Vertigo Corsas, which are not cheap, but hold up really well, and have protected me very well while falling off a couple of times.

While shopping on the web earlier today for potential boot options for the 2010 season, mostly considering either new Sidis or perhaps the Alpinestars Supertechs, I stumbled upon what I thought was a very good deal on the latest and greatest from Sidi, at the Newenough.com website:
Sidi White Vortice Motorcycle Boots :: New Enough, LTD.

The deal is only on the pure white ones, which is what I'd probably want anyway. They look pretty darn nice in the photos, description, and video, so I'm going to give them a try.

Nice boots, I run the alpinestars and find they have a level of feel close to the oxtars but don't wear out as fast. I have ridden with them for 2-3 years now AND done 15 learn to ride courses(I spend enough time in my work boots thanks) and they haven't hardly dented the bottom.

Nice looking boots for sure, and that looks to be a very good price. Look forward to seeing them at Grattan...

I have those Oxtars, definitely not a long lasting boot.

Yup. I was through mine in under a season. I could put my finger right through the hole in the sole of them. Sad, as I REALLY liked those boots.

I love my Sidi boots but after 1 season of racing there are holes through the soles.

Coincidentally I brought them to a shoe repair place today and they told me they couldn't be repaired. Mine are the Vertigo Corsas... must not have had that feature at the time.

I've still got my pair of Sidi Race Vertabra 2 I bought in 2002. After several toe sliders they're still going. I tried a pair of Oxtar (also on clearance from Newenough) for a trackday in 2008, but didn't like how the thickness of the toe impacted my shifts no matter how I adjusted the lever. Interested to know how you like the new inner boot and getting them on and off.

If your feet were normal sized you probably wouldn't have to replace toe sliders so often

The latches are funky, but they seem to fit well and they are definitely better on the track than my last boots, the Vert 2 with the Tepor waterproof lining. Those are great on the street, but a bit hot on the track. I got a pair of the Vortice Air last year, and they are a LOT cooler.

I just hope they can withstand the kickstarter on the XR, that's what ruined the sole on my Vert 2's. I'll just have to make sure to kick it using the replaceable part of the boot.

I've had my Vertigo's for 4 years and wore them for years on the street and the track and never wore anything out. you big people just wear out shit too fast, tires and now boots.

I can't identify any wear on my XPD soles from the kickstarter on my XRR.

Apparently you didn't have to push yours 2 miles in a rainstorm to get it to fire up then...

They arrived today. Nice! They really aren't that much more complicated to put on than my previous-gen Sidis. One more latch, and a velcro tab at the top of the zipper on the inner liner. No biggie. I really like them, especially the toe vent and replaceable sole.
