Had a chance to try both of these lids on last week. They were the first Shoei helmets I've tried on in a long time since others I had tried on never fit. Not so with either of these - I really think the X-12 may be my next lid. Impressively light and the fit and finish seemed top notch(as expected with a $600+ price tag).

The sales guy at the unmentioned retail establishment *almost* convinced me that there's virtually no difference between HJC and Shoei because HJC makes the outer shell for them.

I tried on an X-12 Sat. It's a nice step up from the X-11.

I'd need a different set of chin pads, but it is pretty sweet. Seemed a bit heavier than my X-11, but I didn't have them side-side to try.
