Why do helmet graphics just suck these days?

My Arai Q2 is over 5 years old now. I'd like to get a replacement helmet for the street and maybe even some track time even though I mostly use a Scorpion for the track. My problem is this - I can't find ANY helmets that have simple graphics anymore. (I already have the Scorpion "Burst" which is pretty simple)

All of the current designs have a huge amount of detail, and fancy stuff on them that pretty much just turns into a blob once you're more than 5 ft away from it. Whatever happened to the simple helmet graphic? I'm thinking back to the Arai Spencer, Mamola, Cooley, Baldwin graphics, or the Shoei Rainey, Lawson, Gardner, etc.

One of my favorite helmets of all time was my old Arai Quantum Adamo replica, it's just too bad you can't get something like that anymore. The funny thing is, I actually like the colors and simple graphics on the new Corsair V Pedrosa replica, but there's no way in hell I'd ever wear one. The new Mamola replica isn't terrible, but still a lot more "busy" than the original.

    Maybe I'm just getting old...

Go plain white and add your own decals. I like some of today's designs I'm just not willing to pay the premium for a graphics kit, I don't care who's replica it is.

    <<<Rainey Replica?

just get a plain color. Add some of your own via vinyl, Dave knows a bit about customizing a helmet.

I've been wearing your replica all year and didn't even know it. I gotta do something about that. I did Red Sox stickers last year. maybe I should find some Patriots stickers and do them. I'm thinking the old Pat Patriot not the Elvis Patriot.

I've had my eye on that one too...almost bought one at the GP. Of the 4 people in this country that would recognize it as a Pedrosa rep, 3 of them already know I'm a dick...so I'll take my chances...

I'm with you guys. My Arai Signet GT has passed the magic age mark but there's nothing out there that grabs me. I don't really care for any of the current graphics, so much so that I haven't even found anything that I feel like I can live with. I may have to give props to the SSG replica this time around.

Simple solution - paint it. I hear ya though, and agree. Have you bought tennis shoes lately? Similar deal only worse IMO.

Those designs would be very easy to replicate on a new white helmet. You ought to do it and send it out for clear coating...

The 09' Hayden Arai isn't bad. Kind of along the same designs as what your pics are. Not squidish or too flashy. If you like Hayden and can choke down the price that is.

No joke, I like that helmet. I pointed it out to my wife recently (who hated it) and said that I'd like to have one but that you guys on here would laugh me out of the place

Other than that one I'm kinda with evl. I like the simpler old school style graphics. I think we could have this same thread about current bike graphics as well.

My last two were both solid. I wanted solid white when I bought my current helmet but it was $50 more than the graphics version that I got. I also really liked the "Burst" version that evl has but it was even more. Same helmet just different colors.
