Moto GP Jackets?
I saw this jacket on sale at newenough.com, and it looks like a good deal on a good jacket. I was looking into getting my A-stars TZ1 jacket perforated, which would cost me roughly $75 or so, but this has me re-thinking that idea...

I have not seen the MOTO GP jackets nor have an opinion of them, but I am very disappointed in the Roo skin 1 piece.

I don't know anything about MotoGP clothes, but Newenough has been an awesome customer-service oriented company through the years.

Yeah, I really like newenough, and their customer service is awesome! I just wanted to see if anyone around here had some personal insight.

Re: Moto GP Jackets?
I bought this exact same jacket a little over a month ago and have been very happy with it and it was definately a great price for a leather jacket. The jacket does fit very small compared to other jackets, just like the NewEnough site says. I normally wear either a Medium or a Large and also have a Joe Rocket Speedmaster in a size 46. I ended up ordering an XL in the MotoGP jacket and I'm definately glad I didn't go smaller. The only part of the jacket I was somewhat dissappointed in was that the underarm portion of the sleeve from the elbow up to the armpit is textile. The textile is not a cordura type but instead appears to be just a heavily woven nylon. But hey, what do I expect for $150 delivered and that one minor thing is definately not keeping me from wearing it. Hope this helps everyone out. If you have more questions let me know.

Is the leather somewhat durable or is it crappy pleather? what color did you get? and so if I usually wear a large do you suggest I get an XL?

Re: Moto GP Jackets?
The leather looks to be good quality on the newenough website. My jacket is actually coming in today so I'll give my first impressions when I get a chance to look it over. For $350 on motorcycle-superstore.com, it had damn well better not be cheap ass pleather...
I ordered an XL even though by their sizing charts (American) I'm a large...but I also wear a 48/58 in Alpinestars, which according to their charts is an XXL. But, that's in tiny European sizes, so...
Hopefully the XL fits well, but if not I'll exchange it for a XXL. I got the Black/Gray, BTW.
math--I should send you a PM next time I come to Madison to ride with a few of my buddies and we can all go out!

I just ordered mine. I hope it is as good a deal as it sounds. I also got the black and grey. I wish they had the black and white available. But at least we'll be twins!
For sure give me a PM when you are in town and we'll go ride.

That would be thuper! Actually a buddy of mine ordered a bunch of new gear a while ago, and he bought the exact same boots, pants and gloves that I have even after I told him that if I had to do it over again I'd get different pants and gloves. We used to have the same exact jacket too! Well, now we can look like power rangers...
Cool, I'll shoot you a PM. I was in Madison (Waunakee) this past weekend, and we went riding out past Mazomanie.
Edit: I don't want a Large Farva, I want a damn liter cola!!

Re: Moto GP Jackets?
Apparently Black and Grey is the flavor du jour. I ordered an XL, since I have a 44" chest and belly not far behind. (No six-pac abs here!) I guy here at work has the same one and it looks nice. Very much worth $147 shipped!

Re: Moto GP Jackets?
I'm about a 42-43 chest and a 40 belly. I think a XL will fit ok, right?

I would assume as much, from the description on New Enough's website. I'm 5'8" 190lbs with a 44" chest, and had been comfortable in Joe Rocket and Teknic size 44 jackets with the liner in them. If the MotoGPs run a bit small like they say, then I think we'll be fine.

Re: Moto GP Jackets?
I got the black and grey/silver when I ordered my jacket. The leather seems very nice. Just to give you an idea of sizing I"m 5'10" and 175lbs. The XL fits me well through the shoulder and sleeves and gives me a little bit of room through the middle. Hope that helps.

Hmm...I'm 6'1" and 195 pounds, but I usually fit into size L. hopefully the XL will be good. I just got the jacket, and it looks nice! The leather feels great, I'll try it on (when I get home) and then I'll update this thread.

Please do! Since you are 5 lbs heaver than me and 5" taller, that makes me fat! And to think I was doing so good to get there from 235!
Dammit!

Re: Moto GP Jackets?
Okay, well the jacket looks and feels nice--albeit a bit stiff, but it's new leather so that is expected. It looks like those non-leather panels under the arms are made of Cordura. The leather looks to be of good quality.
The XL fits me well overall. The jacket hits my belt buckle in the front, and it goes a few inches past my belt in the back. It fits me snugly, but not overly tight. I think it's a good fit now, but once it breaks in it'll be damn near perfect. The sleeves are long enough for my arms, but they are a bit tight (I don't have skinny arms though). The shoulder area and chest fits snug, like it should. I also have ample room in the midsection.
The only thing that I don't like about it right now is the stiffness of the arms, but in the riding position I don't think I'll notice it as it's only bothersome when my arm is bent all the way inward at the elbow (think right hand touching right shoulder).
Overall, my impression of it (having not yet ridden in it) is that it's more than worth the $147 shipped that I paid!

Re: Moto GP Jackets?
Sweet! Thanks for the details. The guy that I work with that has one says that it breathed pretty well through the perfs coming in this morning. We have had a rather warm day here, hitting 65 by 7 am and 91 at mid day. I have some rain coming in to take advantage of the days to ship in mine, so I'm not too anxious.

Re: Moto GP Jackets?
The leather on mine has softened up as I've used it. When I first got it and started to wear it I noticed that it was stiff as well but not that I have been usinging for about a month it's great.

Re: Moto GP Jackets?
My chest is about a 42-43 (at least that's what my suit coat size is), and I'm not sure about the belly. I don't have one though so I always have extra room in that area in my jackets. I would think that an XL would fit you fine, but if not you can always get an XXL.

I just got mine today and I agree with Def, It is a nice jacket overall. The arms are a bit tight but i think they shall loosen up through time. Leather seems really good and the protection seems adequate. Pretty good looking jacket! But definitely have to agree that the arms are a bit stiff and the wrists are stiff as well. But definitely great for $147 delivered....

Re: Moto GP Jackets?
I've had my MotoGP jacket for about a year, and while I can't claim to have that many miles on it, I can say that they break-in quickly. It's quality is assuredly much higher than something like AGV's Pakistani products, and is more on par with the likes of Teknic.

Re: Moto GP Jackets?
Just got mine today and it's nice! The wrists are a bit stiff, but I figure a few rides will take care of that. The construction is good and the CE armour in the elbows and shoulders is an upgrade over my existing jacket. The pad they put in the back is pretty useless, but I have something to fix that. But I agree with the group here that for $147 OTD, you can't argue with it. And it's not a case of you get what you pay for. The suitbag it came in was a nice touch, and that's a better hanger than the ones that came with my JR or Teknic jackets. I'm about to go strap it on and check it in the wind. I'll let you know how that goes.
