Scorpion EXO-700

I need a new lid before Grattan. Anybody else switch from an Arai Quantum F or a Suomy Spec1R to one of these? I'm wondering if it has a similar shape.

Thanks

Re: Scorpion EXO-700

I just picked on of these up per a suggestion from Abtech. Good price too. I don't have experience with the two brands you listed but I used to run a HJC lid. It seems comparable to that shape. Sorry.

Re: Scorpion EXO-700

I went from the Signet to the EXO-700. The EXO seems to have a little more room in the chinbar than the Signet. Also lighter, better fitting, more comfortable, better ventialtion, etc.
Can't speak for the Quantum, sorry.

Speaking of which, the R2SL event where I got my helmet last year in the silent auction is coming up again next weekend. I could bid on some helmets for you if interested. There isn't a list out of what's available, but last year there were quite a few Scorpion helmets on the tables, and there most likely will be again this year.

Speaking of Scorpion helmets *ping Abtech*...how does it compare to the AGV helmets as far as fit? I have an AGV XR2 and was thinking about getting a new helmet sometime soon.

It's a bit more comfortable than my last AGV X-Vent. Noise level is down and the ventilation is about the same. I am very happy with it.

Re: Scorpion EXO-700

I have an EXO 400 Tribal on order for the street, and depending on how it feels, I may get a 700 for the track later this summer. I know it has a plastic shell and all, but it will more than likely be relegated to a backup lid someday soon. I still like my Shoei, and almost feel like I'm cheating on them, but it's just getting out of hand what they charge for one. I am also looking at a KBC TK9. Any KBC owners out there care to chime in?

What is the 'average' running price for the EXO-700's? Does scorpion make a flip face model

Re: Scorpion EXO-700

About 200 for an exo 700 at your local dealer. you might want to wait for the EXO 1000 with the "Pump". It should be the shizznet.

I am really happy with the 700. i found it fit better on my noggin than any other helmet. I would like less fricken vent things to open and close. The 400 is supposed to be the same shape, but fits me poorly. It's my backup or chic lid so no matter.

Don't get the mirror face shields they are crap and flake easlily. the dark smoke is great.

Mirror is ALWAYS a bad idea as it masks the sunlight interference that creates the rainbow effect of oil on asphalt. For the track, I would definitely stay away from any mirrored shield (I wouldn't use one on the street either).

Re: Scorpion EXO-700

I will have to investigate the pump, last time I tried that it was in overpriced bball sneakers that I wore for skateboarding.

I'm done with the potent bikes for awhile so this would be for use on my KLR. Is it still a decent quiet (read- cheap) helmet or are we comparing this to full-airflow RX7RR4's at 140mph for quietness

Just my choices now are dirty helmets, a way too old Arai RX7, or my new Shoei 600$ thing I can't remember the model # of. So I'm thinking for commuting on the KLR this year I should get something newer but 200$ is about where I'm comfy with. And I've heard alot about this damn lid

p.s. Don't tell me to go to advrider again, I'm there...and find I lean more towards the sportbike style helmets as my preference of fit and function

Re: Scorpion EXO-700

I went from a Signet to an exo700 and it fits great. I think the Scorpions are an 'in between' shape because I've heard people that say they have round heads are happy with the fit too, and I'm definately an oval melon. As for the new exo1000 with the pump, I remember reading somewhere it may NOT be Snell certified. The only thing I didn't like about the 700 was the 1st 'click' for holding the shield open kept it open about twice as much as my Signet, but it's possible to file new notches in the plate to make it about the same as the Arai's. Go for it, I think you'll be surprised.

Re: Scorpion EXO-700

What if I have a square head? I'm thinking I might just stick with the 9-can cooler...

The EXO is definetely in the loop for consideration

At the motorcycle show when CBRVFR bought his, the rep kept going on about them buying data for so many hundreds of North American heads and designing around that.

Just ordered one today. I'm hoping it's quieter than my Shoie. Maybe a little lighter too?

Re: Scorpion EXO-700

Depends on which SHOEI.. it's a tiny bit heavier than my X-11, but that's the lightest helmet I've ever had. Venting is similar, I wear earplugs so I can't evaluate the noise level. Basically, if you want a cooler helmet, it's going to be louder than one without that level of airflow. Most of these top helmets are designed in a windtunnel, so they are quieter and more stable at high speeds than they used to be.

It's a good value, for sure. Make sure it fits well. The size may not correspond with the SHOEI you're wearing.

Also note that while a few grams heavier than current top of the line Shoei and Arai offerings, it's definitely a few ounces lighter than my 2003 X-Vent (which was the lightest helmet on the market at the time). Tempest Fugit . . .
