Aerostich Triple-digit Raincover Mod

First off, these things work great. They slide over your regular gloves and create a wind and waterproof barrier between your hands and the cold, damp air. They are a little bulky but that's to be expected. It also takes a little getting used to with the split fingers like they are. They pack well and take up very little room and they're easy to slip on roadside.

However, there is only one issue that I've found with the covers and that is that the cinch strap that tightens the cover around the wrist is a little too short. When you slide the cover over racing-style gloves, the strap has a tendency to slide out of the plastic bracket. Once that happens, it's impossible to thread the strap back into the bracket. Warm and dry demands a cost and you pay that price with loss of dexterity. As soon as the strap slips through the bracket, you have to strip off the covers as well as your regular gloves, thread the strap back through, re-don the gloves and try to be more careful when you slide the covers back on to avoid a repeat episode.

My simple fix was to feed a small tie-wrap through the loop in the strap. The tie-wrap now serves two purposes. First, it prevents the strap from slipping out of the bracket. Second, it provides a better gripping point to tighten the strap.

Hope this helps anyone looking into a cost-effective rain/warmth solution without having to buy another set of gloves.
