    Water-resistant Gloves and Boots Suggestions

Yesterday we caged it out to the coast, and there was real heavy fog. Still though, I was wishing I was on the GS, especially after seeing several Bimmer guys out (funny enough, no sportbikers).

I have an Aerostitch, but some water resistant boots and gloves would be handy. (I've ridden vented race boots in weather like that, and they fill with water!) I have heated grips, so I'm really just after water protection with the gloves.

I like "race level" protection on the street, and here are a couple of contenders:

Sidi Sidi Canyon Gore-Tex Motorcycle Boots :: New Enough, LTD

Alpinestars Storm Rider Gore-Tex Motorcycle Gloves :: New Enough, LTD

Anyone got favorites or other suggestions? Reviews on this stuff?

I have a pair of Sidi Vertebra 2 Te-por waterproof boots, I've been using them on the street and track for the past several years. I've been out in the rain several times, and the only water that gets in is leakage before I put my rainsuit on. A friend of mine has worn these in standing water, and his feet stayed dry. I'm not sure about the newer Goretex boots. I'm going to keep these boots for street riding, but I'm probably going to get a new set of track boots this winter. I'd rather have ventilation than waterproofing for the track.

The only set of rain gloves I have is a cheap pair of Joe Rocket rain gloves (not even sure what modle they are) which I bought down at the crossroads store at Deal's Gap a long time ago. They work ok, but once your hands start sweating a bit from lack of ventilation, the lining makes them hard to remove and put back on if it starts raining again.

I'm really a fan of Gaerne's whole lineup. I'm looking to possibly move my G-RSs to the track and pick up the G-RTs.

Most comfortable boots I've ever worn. Even walking around. And they're supposed to be the track boots.

I was looking at the Sidi rain race boots too.

Considering Seamus' Alpinestars glove performance last weekend and the follow up comments, maybe I should look elsewhere.

Can't help on the boots but I have a set of the Aerostich Triple-digit Raincovers that you wear over your normal gloves.

They work a treat and even have a built-in visor wiper on the left thumb. I have the insulated version but they make them without the insulated liner, as well.

Only one dig on them - they are tight to slide over racing gloves and I had to "mod" the cinch strap a bit but not a deal breaker.

Oh - and you'll look like a blue-clawed lobster but I'm ok with that

What size feet do you have? Conq was selling a near-new pair of Sidi Typhoon's in a 45 for a very good price.

I don't have anything yet, I just ride to work with a few pairs of gloves and look like a freak. The triple digits are the best thing you can do I think...because you're rarely going to be leaving in the rain, moreso getting caught in it...and those are quick and dirty to pack.

45 as a matter of fact SSG.

BJG, I went and checked those out, that might just be the ticket.

I can take a pic or two of my mod to the cinch strap if you decide to bite the bullet.

The problem I have with them is that the cinch strap around the wrist is too short and tends to pull out of the plastic bracket when you slip the covers over the bulky part of racing gloves - the knuckle protection. In my case it's the carbon fiber insert on the a*'s.

My fix was to put a small tie-wrap on the strap to keep it from pulling through the bracket. Probably not a good description but a picture says a thousand words. Let me know if you need a photo.

I know exactly what you mean. I have a pair of street gloves that suffers from the same problem. I'll look at them and perhaps apply your mod.
    Thanks!
