    Jacket sizing help.

So i was looking around online, and when looking at the jackets, came across the number sizing schema of things.
What does the 40--63 size mean? Does it have anything to do with chest length?
What size would fit a 19 inch chest size?

    Help much appreciated.

I'm roughly 5'11" & 160lbs and I wear a 44(US)/54(Euro) size Alpinestars jacket with room for a back protector or a sweatshirt underneath. Sizes will run different between manufacturers.

I am 6'3" and 195lbs and wear a 46 one piece Komodo suit.

Check the sizing charts that the manufactures have available online to give you an idea of what to get, but the best way is to actually go to a shop that stocks gear and try on what you want.

Take a look over at newenough.com
On every page they have a sizing chart particular to that brand of apparel. Many of us have had good experiences with that company - you can occasionally get a smoking deal over there.

Here's a sample page - they have a lot to say about sizing under the gray bar.

You're measuring your chest wrong. It's not length.

Wrap the tape measure all the way around your body just under your armpits and across the largest part of your chest (usually right across your nipples). Make sure the tape measure is level.

It's kind of awkward to do it yourself. I usually bring the tape measure to a local college bar on a Friday night and sell raffle tickets.

But what if your nipples aren't level?

I'll second going to NewEnough. Besides the sizing chart, they tell you how the sizes run. Great information and great service.

Now if what I want would just be delivered to stock so they will accept my order

seamus could probably get away with that. However, the largest part of my chest is just below my belly button. They pay me not to take my shirt off at the local college bars.

Somehow, it always gets back to nipples, doesn't it?

I'm gonna need to pick up a roll of raffle tickets, too. Almost out...

+234 for newenough. Plus, unless they changed it they have a free return (No restocking fee) policy. Plus, their customer service is great. If you have a question about an item you'll get a very prompt email response.

Based on your height and weight I'd bet you'd be around a 42 Euro, but again that varies by manufacturer. If you can try some on locally that's your best bet.
What's my drug of choice? Well, what have you got?

I'd agree, I'm 5'10.5" and 150 and wear a 42 Euro Alpinestars because it gives the length I need, and overall fits about right. There is easily room for 15 pounds more in the chest and arms area...I'm working on it.
