Scorpion Fit?

I can't seem to find a Scorpion helmet anywhere to try on. I like the price and the reviews that they are getting. The Shoei RF-1000 fits me well and the HJC AC-12 fits me well. The HJC CL and CS helmets seem to round and don't fit quite right. The Arai's also don't fit very well. Has anyone worn a Scorpion Exo-400 or 700 that has also worn an AC-12 or RF-1000? I'd like to know how the fit compares.

If they fit anything like a Large X-11 I'd be tempted to order one up as a spare.

I spent 40 minutes last night writing a review/comparison and when it came time to send I hit the wrong key and everything vaporized into cyberspace never to be seen again!

Condensed version:

I have both X-11 and EXO 700...both fit great for me. Both run true to centimeter sizing.

Crash tested previous models of both...both do the job well.

A few days ago I received my new evl_twn twin EXO 700 so I'm ready for Grattan... ( in other words...would I buy it again? Sure!)

For slickwill... the only Arai model I could tolerate was a Signet. All the others would not work. See if you can find a Shoei X-11 to try on. If it works for you, the Scorpion will as well at about one third the cost.

Checked today and a size large X-11 fits absolutely perfect so I may give a try to the EXO-700. I just don't have the money to spend on an X-11. However, the HJC AC-12 size large also fits excellently and NewEnough has the AC-12 Yikes III for $99 Viewing Images For HJC AC-12 Yikes III Helmet :: New Enough, LTD. The red/silver/white would really match my leathers and bike but I really want plain white though.

Don't get an HJC. A couple years back there was a race/track day organization that banned them due to the number of concussions people received with them.

I was wearing a Scorpion EXO400 when I got bounce-checked last Sunday night. It replaced my Shoei X-9, and fit very similaly to it. But after wearing the Scorp a year, I have decided to replace it with an Arai Quantum 2 (which should be here Tuesday ). Tried several on today, along with an HJC CL-15 (), and a Suomy Spec-1R 9not a bad fit, but heavier than the Arai). I found the Scorp to be comfortable cushion-wise, but heavy. It felt like it weighed more than the X-9, and was louder. I willsay this, as I am not intending to bad mouth them. The 400 was by far the best helmet for the buck I have ever bought, espcially safety-wise. But there are too many unnecessary moving parts, IMHO, and it lead to little issues here and there. I had some side plate issues that were eventually resolved, but that I never had with a Shoei. But that $150 lid may have saved my life last weekend, and I am supremely confident in the one my Mrs. puts her head in each time we ride, especially now that I have 'tested' one.

Crash tested an EXO 700 you can't go wrong. The EXO 400's chin bar seems closer to your face than the 700. I would never spend 500 on a helmet again. I tried out the EXO 1000 and did not think it was very good. The gadgets seemed poorly implemented.

If you need to save money the EXO 400 is a great helmet. It was my spare but is now my main lid till i buy a new 700.

I just got my second one for $120 (They tell me when things are going on sell plus my discount ) EXO-400 I love it... For the price they are worth it to me.

I used to spend $400 to $500 on an helmet to find myself crashing and having to buy another one. Went down twice with my scorpion and doesn't look like there's any damage to myself LOL

Okay ya'll convinced me. I'm going to order a Scorpion EXO-700.

They have this one on sale for $129: SCORPION EXO-700 Geronimo Red Helmet would match my red/white/black leathers but I really wanted plain white which is $50 more. This: Scorpion EXO-700 Burst Red/White Helmet is actually my favorite but $90 more than the sale helmet. I just can't get myselft to pay that much for paint.

My helmet got here. The fit is great. Initial impressions are overall positive but WOW is it noisy. Even with earplugs in it is noisier than my old helmet without wearing them. The other things that I don't like are the really scratchy inside liner and the fact that the first crack open visor position is almost a full inch. Way to big. I like to be able to just crack it a bit for some extra air flow.

That answers the question I had with my EXO-1000 about the visor detent. Seemed to me like they designed the detents backwards as the first detent coming from full open towards closed is about 1/4".

Yep, seems exactly backwards to me. I feel like the first detent from closed is almost half-way open. Then slow increments in a range that I would never, ever use.

At least they're consistent. It was one of the first issues I noticed when I started riding with mine. One of the minuses I noted in my review.

I can't say I wasn't warned because I read your review. It turns out that it bugs me more than I thought it would.

Finally tried one out at the vendor display at MMP WSBK... Doesn't fit me. The XL was too big and the L gave me a bad hot spot on my forehead. The rep said to get the XL and put the larger cheek pads from the L in it... Meh. Damn thing was heavy too! Guess I'll have to pay double and stick with the greatest helmet ever designed... the Shoei X11.
