Two Piece Leathers??

I saw a post somewhere (cannot remember where) that someone said, "most trackday orgs do not allow two piece suits."

Is that true, even when they have a full circumference zipper? I bought an A-stars MX-1 jacket last fall and am ready to buy the matching A-stars track pants. I made the purchase based on my local trackday org allowing them and just assumed they all did. I wanted a jacket that I could wear around town when I ride that would also work on the track. I figured that I didn't have the money to buy a full suit and a jacket. Now I don't want to order the pants if I need to get a full suit anyway. For the next two years I will do maybe two trackdays a year if I'm lucky.

I have the jacket, want the pants, and me modeling the wifes new A-stars jacket.

It depends on the organization, really. Most will probably let you get away with it up to and including the Intermediate level.

Now about that other pic?

Yeah, what those guy's said. Shuld be OK for most non race events.

Though I think there are serious track disqualifications in order for guys that post pics of themselves in their SO's PINK gear!!!

And if not, there should be!

All the ones down here are fine with it as long as it is 360 zip. Personally I prefer one piece as it is better on keeping me in one piece

Most of the two piece leathers attach using a crappy zipper sewed to elastic. If you can find a set with YKK zippers that attach to leather you'd be better off.

Man, you're never going to live down that pic. I was going to change my avatar line but somehow, it seems to fit just fine

And, yes, as long as 360 degree zipper, you should be alright.

I knew I should have blacked out my eyes, and said it was my neighbor. I don't even have any sort of witty comeback. It was a long day at school and obviously my brain was fried.

I've ridden with Fastrack Riders, Freddie Spencer, Jason Pridmore, SoCal Trackdays, and Take it 2 the track; all of them allowed my off the rack (Sasquatch size, US 56, Euro 66) 2 piece Joe Rocket suit. It's a full zip (well, about 340 degrees, not really 360). Notwithstanding, any day now my custom fitted 1 piece Kushitani should be here!

PS As an aside, have you seen those public service television announcements reminding kids that once a picture is uploaded to the web... it's there for life. Muahahaha. Great pic!

I did track days for about 3 years in a two-piece Joe Rocket suit, and never had an issue with any of the organizers. I also tarmac-tested this suit in my one notable accident and it maintained it's integrity quite nicely.

Having said this, and like MotoVegas, I upgraded to a nice 1-piece A* suit a couple of years ago and won't be going back.

Great pic, BTW.

I've done trackdays and raced a few times in my zip-together Spidis before I got a one piece suit. I didn't have any issues and have crashed in the zip-togethers more than once.

I started digging through the WERA classified's yesterday thinking that maybe I could get a used one piece for the same price as what I would pay for the pants. I found the exact A-stars pants still in the packaging for signigicantly less than new. They are on the way. I should be in good shape for the track this year.

They should match the jacket pretty well.

They finally showed up. They fit like they were hand tailored for me. I couldn't ask for a better fit. Lucked out on this one.

That's looking less likely by the minute. I got home from my skiing trip and as I was driving home I noticed my clutch was slipping. My car has 120K so it wasn't terribly unexpected. I called around and got three bids all around $700 so went with the place that I thought would be fastest. An Aamco transmission shop. I called yesterday when it was supposed to be done and they told me it hadn't even been looked at yet. I called today to go get it and they said, "umm have you ever had trouble starting this thing...we think it has a timing belt issue." I replied that, "in the four years I have owned it, it has always started...and it doesn't have a timing belt, it has a timing chain." They said, "we'll look at it a little more and get back to you." I started driving over with the intention of just having it towed straight out of there and to the dealership. As I was pulling in they called back to let me know that three of the four cylinders had no compression. So it ran just fine when I drove it there. Ran just fine when they pulled it into their shop, and now has no compression. Their mechanics said that anything beyond that was over their heads so I had it towed to the dealership. It sounds like I need a new clutch and a new engine. That is going to suck up all of the "fun" money. No Grattan and no 848 most likely. I'll know more after the dealership looks at it tomorrow.

I think once you have the dealer find out what happened to the car you should blame aamco and they should pay for it.

Hosers. I love what um you need a new timing belt. hey asshat it has a timing chain. Fu_kers.

Good luck. I would advise to just buy a new one if the engine is blown at 120k it may be time to invest in a yaris uggg.

Is it manual trans? If so, replace the clutch yourself. Figure $200 for a new clutch and pressure plate + refaced flywheel if necessary.

On the engine, if it's running to your satisfaction there's no need to replace it, low compression or not. Low compression doesn't usually mean imminent failure.

I checked the compression two months ago and all cylinders were at 110 psi. It WAS running fine when I drove it in there. Now it won't start and compression is at 30 psi in cylinders 1 and 2, 60 psi in 3, and 105 in 4. So I'm pretty sure that the engine is done.

As for doing the clutch myself I spend 14 hours a day in school, spend all day Saturday's at school and all of the time that I'm not in church on Sunday's is spent studying. Now that I am away from home I don't have access to a shop, lifts, etc. The windchill was -19 at 3pm yesterday. I about froze to death just walking into Aamco, let alone doing a clutch.
