Helmet Question: Brow area obstructed when tucked.
Hey folks. I see the discussion about who has what helmet here. However, I have a couple specific questions.
I currently wear a Shoei X-11 (solid black). When I was doing nothing but cruiser riding for all those years, I noticed no issues with this (or even my previous helmets including Arai's). But now being on a sportbike, I notice when I'm in the "tuck" position and trying to look forward down the road the "brow area" of my helmet tends to obstruct my view and it kind of freaks me out.
I've tried on different sizes and models in Shoei, Arai and Suomy at a local dealer in Vegas. They seem like they will do the same. I have not been able to get my hands on a AGV or Shark to try them out but would like to (however, I don't think there are any AGV or Shark dealers in Vegas).
I'm was wondering if this happens to any of you and is a common occurance? In your experience have any of you noticed if a particular manufacturer makes a somewhat "larger" field of view area so as to maybe solve this problem for me?
Thanks in advance for any comments.

I have that same problem but I think it has more to do with the helmet being broken in and not fitting as tight as when it was new. I have a Suomy Spec1r by the way.

Don't pull your helmet so far down in front.

Icon Mainframe here. No issues what-so-ever. I DragRace so I am in a full tuck.
Scorpion also makes a great helmet with plenty of frontal vision in tuck.

Does your helmet fit properly or is it loose and just moves forward?

either your helmet doesnt fit right or your face is pointing too far towards the tank when you're tucked. You cant expect 100% visibility, but I dont see why anything important would be blocked.

incorrect helmet size/shape. I get that with some helmets. You need one with more padding in the forehead area so that it doesn't shift down when tucked. Get an arai and get some custom inserts - more for the fronts.

I had that problem with my Arais until I had one properly custom-fitted. He put in a thicker top foam, and also added more stick-in foam type stuff, so that when I'm standing up straight, my eyes are now in the center. Made a huge difference, and eliminated the helmet slipping down to my eyebrows on the track. It seemed to fit right before, it didn't slide, etc., but it just wasn't sitting in just the right place, apparently.

I think this is it. I put it on this morning and was working it. The pads are pretty collapsed now also. Helmet is about a year old and I've toured a bit in it with several LONG days with it on. Meh, I love buying new motorcycle crap so I'll keep this helmet for touring (just get some new pads) and maybe grab a new Arai and dink with the pads.
I appreciate the input from you all. I posted this topic on about 4 forums I visit. Your's was the only one with SEVERAL meaningful responses. Thanks folks!

Sure enough, I was off by two sizes. Man, costly error both in the pocketbook and the potential damages should I have had a serious accident with an improperly fitting helmet.
I tried many different models and manufacturers. Oddly the Arai's and Suomy's didn't feel right in the "correct" size. When they did feel good, they were too big. I then tried on several sizes of X-11's like I already owned. Honestly, the RF-1000 felt better on my head. Go figure. So two sizes down, and in a different model I think I found a good fit and feel. The sales guy at Cycle Gear was VERY knowledgable; an older "track guy" type.
Any way, here's a link to my lids.
Shoei X-11 in Black and Shoei RF-1000 Diabolic 3 TC-5. And from the other side.

I think most of us make this mistake. At first, just like leathers, they should feel too tight.

Funny thing is, had I stayed riding "cruisers only" like I did all those years, I would have never learned... until it was to late. It took the extreme angles and positions of sportbiking to learn my helmet didn't fit right!!!
So, yeah sportbiking IS good for you! Hahaha.
