you can still come to Grattan even if you don't have a bike.

No Hammer this year :(
Does your trailer have a stamp on it that says the total weight of it?

I may make an appearance this year but not likely.

The bike is easy to go quick on. I have learned alot on this bike and she is still in excellent shape.

If you make it to Grattan you can always take one of mine out for a spin... (if I make it this year)

Hate to see your track steed go but I can't argue with your logic. Keep us in the loop as to what you get - will be good to get a few local day-trips together this summer.

That is kind of the plan. Short day trips that can be done for less $$.

my bad, it is a royal cargo. For some reason I was thinking it was a Haulmark. Dunno where that came from. But I looked at the title and registration and they both confirm it is a RC.

My truck is rated for 4200 lbs so I'm trying to figure out if the weight of the 12' trailer plus 2 bikes, toolbox, and accessories is too much for the truck.

buy it, put your shnit in it, hook it up and if it rips your truck apart. it's too heavy

?
Typically the GVWR would be the weight of a loaded trailer. So even if the trailer weighs 1000# (which I doubt) then that means you have a 1900# payload. That's still two bikes and A LOT of stuff. Not surprising at all that the axle is rated for more than the trailer. My little 4x6 is rated for 1000# but the axle is rated for 2000# I think.
...dude you ride an offroad bike with slicks, 1/2 the weight of a GS, double the suspension, with a browning 50 cal going off 32" from your skull as a daily freaking driver - I'd expect anything except a nitro dragbike to be bland by comparison - SSG

08, I don't know exactly what the trailer itself weighs. If I had to take a guess it would be around 1,250-1,500lbs or so. I used to pull it with a Ford Ranger 4.0V6 5spd with no problems. It pulled good too, even through Chicago traffic... following Depo no less. Of course it pulls better behind my Chevy, but I would not worry about it. We made one trip to Grattan with it with 3 bikes in it and full of gear. No issues. You just won't be able to carry the "Mr. Goodwench" set up with you.

YOUR toolbox? I can answer that - Yes, it's too heavy
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Looking at comparable models up here of the same size/options/materials they are right about 1350-1400.

10 years ago that's what I would have said. Now, I think if it burns up a tranny, thats 25% the cost of a track bike.

Assuming the weight won't be an issue there is the issue of you being 5 1/2 hours away. Like I said when we talked.. I'd be interested. I think you should try to get rid of it locally. If you can't in a short amount of time (like a month give or take?) we'll try to work something out. I won't need it until April anyway so I can hold off and see what happens with it.

I can't even guess what it weighs. 1000 lbs? So yeah. I "need" it though. Never know..

take out the word typically and you're spot on. yup the axle will be rated higher than the GVWR to keep a margin of safety. so Scott if you max out this trailer your truck should be just fine with it being rated for another 1200#.
