I'm looking to find a supermoto in the 5000 $ range, 2006 or newer, reliable, not a drz400, street legal preferably, ideally a 450 or 510, a big plus is being near the Fort Worth TX area. I'm ready to drive up to 200 miles one way. Beyond that it would have to be a great deal.
Suggestions please.
I'm about to call this guy who's in my general area. Supermoto Junkie
I'd actually prefer a Husqvarna 510, but all the ones I'm finding are too far and I'd prefer not to deal with that if I can avoid it.
The XR has always had a special place in my heart. This one seems to be in very good condition and I can go check it out easily if he has not sold it yet.
I'd like other options just in case the bike is not available anymore. I'll find out at lunch time today, I hope.
Thanks.

As much as I like Aprilias, there's something about not only reliability, but also parts availability, that gives me some pause. But that's a bike I could consider going to pick up.

What do you guys think about the one I linked to in my first post? Seems like a good deal. I'm going to check it out tonight.

You might want to cut and paste the info, as we can't access the link without logging in to that site.
Sorry about that. I thought it was free for all there.
This is the short version of the post this guy is running. I talked to him and seem like an honest guy.
I have finally decided to sell my 2007 HONDA XR650R SUPERMOTO. It needs a new home. I purchased it from the original owner. It has always been garage kept. It needs absolutely nothing. No leaks, smoke or issues of any kind period. It starts on the first or second kick every time. Engine Ice coolant additive, fresh oil and filter. I purchased this bike with approximately 2000 miles on it and I have only ridden it a total of around 1200 miles (3200 total). I sold the original 18/21 dirt wheel set up a few months ago because the Supermoto set up was so much fun. NEVER DROPPED / NEVER RACED!
This thing will quickly pull to over 100 mph on the highway and it still gets 50 mpg’s!!!
This is the bike that wins the Baja 1000 every year! It is the King of the open class.
Hate to see her go, but we just had another little girl last week and I have a few unexpected bills to take care of to get back on top of things again.

I've got a buddy with two KTM supermotos. Both have had a slew of problems, the latest being blown engines. He rides them, but doesn't beat on them. Food for thought.
Not that I know much about that type of bike Onevcs, but from what you posted, if you have the cash jump on it. Offer $5100 cash money to account for pick up/delivery on your part. When wifey says it has to go, you are golden! Good luck!

I'd actually prefer a Husqvarna 510....
I've heard some really good things about the Husky - That Sam Fleming guy from RRW bought one and spent a couple of pages singing its praises. Can't go wrong with a KTM either, though.
If you don't find anything immediately, be patient - I've seen KTM's for sale all over the US on eBay, bound to be a few in your area. The Husky seems much rarer, I've seen a few for sale in Chicago, and a few on the east cost. Personally, I'd go for the bike you really want and get it shipped if necessary...

That's either a crazy good deal or a typo. That would be a great price for a well-used 450 from a private party.
I read thousands of posts on SuMo's before I bought mine. General consensus was that "reliable" didn't really fit with any of the Husky or KTM sumo's. They are a little more "hopped up." For light and powerful KTM or Husky. For reliable XRR or DRZ. There are SO many parts available for the XRR that it's almost silly. The desert racing crowd really has them figured out. I don't regret my choice of the XRR one bit even though I haven't been able to ride it in SuMo trim.
...dude you ride an offroad bike with slicks, 1/2 the weight of a GS, double the suspension, with a browning 50 cal going off 32" from your skull as a daily freaking driver - I'd expect anything except a nitro dragbike to be bland by comparison - SSG
A good deal, perhaps, but only if they'll warranty it for the engine sealer issue, in case it has the notorious problem water getting into the oil. The new ones don't have this problem, but most of the earlier ones did.
Thanks for all your inputs.
I went to see the guy to his house, about 30 miles from my house. He's a cop.
The bike looks great, sounds like a philharmonic orchestra, and pulls like a locomotive. To make a long story short, I bought the bike.
I really wanted the 510 Husqy but I do believe I'll be very happy with this XR.
Thanks to all for your inputs.
I'll post some of his pics in a few minutes.

Not a typo. They've had it in the shop for a little while I think and are usually pretty good with SuMo pricing.

Aprilias are beautiful bikes and they provide amazing performance, but... And that is a whole bunch of big "buts" you can put at the end of that sentence.

I'm sensing an XR650R motard challenge brewing for Grattan 2009...
