Plantronics Discovery 655 Bluetooth Headset

Picked this up on recommendation from SSG about 2 weeks ago and must say I'm very pleased!

All other headsets should be envious.

It's very light but it's not flimsy. It comes with 3 different size ear gels and an optional clip that goes around the ear. The clip isn't a necessity, but recommended because otherwise the piece feels like it'll fall out at any moment - even though I haven't had it happen(yet). It's also comfortable enough that it can probably be worn all day without it feeling like a nuisance.

Sound quality is at least as good, if not better than my phone's speaker(RAZR V3). I haven't heard a single complaint from anyone I've talked to that they can't hear me or that I sound crackled(any more than usual ). The DSP works really well. Only downfall of it is that sometimes it takes a second or so for it to kick in, so it's possible that the person on the other end might answer before you can hear anything. Not that hard to get used to though.

Battery life is awesome. I spent about 2.5 hours on it today before it died and it was at ~75% charge.

At $70 and change it might scare some people away, but it's their loss. I spent about the same amount on a Motorola 820 headset and stopped using it after a week or two because I couldn't hear squat out of it when in the car.

Re: Plantronics Discovery 655 Bluetooth Headset

Here is a cnet review of it as well, they had good things to say:

But mind you, I bought mine pre-release so no one wrote about it yet, and I am very glad I did because it is an awesome unit with a host of charging options and the portable AAA charger rocks!

I also recently found out that the old-style Plantronics earpiece chargers are the same wall adapter that this uses, so if you have an older one (Like me) you now have a spare charger for it.

I have the Motorola HS700 and am pretty happy with it.

The Plantronics stuff is usually pretty decent although I'm not familiar with that model.

Re: Plantronics Discovery 655 Bluetooth Headset

I always wondered if people who use these types of devices often felt like a cyborg. It just seemed odd to me to walk around with the device in your ear and not be talking with anybody. I could understand needing it while driving but while you are in a grocery store and shopping mall.

The first thing I think about when I see the device is "I am Locutis of Borg. Resistance is futile."

I hate that too...I only 'wear' mine if Im on a call and even then I feel like a toolbag. If not on a call, it's only in airports when my hands are full (of cheese!) or when I am driving and I just feel like being lazy.
Though most of the time for driving I use the Motorola T-305, I like it for it's power to weight ratio.

But to answer your question.
Yes - I do feel like a cyborg.
No, it has nothing to do with my bluetooth earpiece.

Re: Plantronics Discovery 655 Bluetooth Headset

I wear it most of the time when I'm on the phone during the day. The majority of my clients tend to be long winded and I can easily multi task while they're talking to me this way.

Re: Plantronics Discovery 655 Bluetooth Headset

Like geez man...

Plantronics )) Mobile )) Mobile )) Plantronics Discovery™ 665 Bluetooth® Headset
ALREADY?!??

This one looks alot tricker but honestly not a fan of the car charger. I just wish they had a means of making the present 'cradle' affix somewhere in a vertical nature, that would make me smile considerably.

Of course in the meantime, I must admit these guys have won back my buisness with this new headset: http://www.store.motorola.com/mot/en...AddButton=true

I wasn't a fan of their headsets for a long time, but the overall sturdiness of it, awesome sound quality, great BT reception, and fast pairing/reconnection, is just awesome.

i guess this thread goes both ways.

Re: Plantronics Discovery 655 Bluetooth Headset

I have a motocrapo one that works great when the elcrapo l2 is connected.

These blutooth ear thingies are just wonderful compared to the wired erbuds.

The other good benifet is that when the phone is in your front pocket like mine it kills the baby makers. uh if your tring to have one remove phone from the boys.

the end

If you're looking for featureset, don't get the free phone

But yes, good redneck birth control...or not.
