New KBC VR-2R Repsol Helmets

I picked up one of these at Laguna. When I first saw pictures of them on the web, I was not impressed but they look much better in person.

I've been out and about in the new helmet a few times now and the new helmet is definitely more comfy than the older style lid. The new one fits snug at first but the fit conforms nicely after a few rides. Much quieter than the older models and I think a little lighter.

The lid usually comes with both clear and smoke visors and a bag. Since I won my lid at the races, I didn't know about or even ask where all the other stuff was. My lid came with nothing but the helmet itself, but I'm not complaining. I already picked up a dark smoke and iridium blue visor from an on-line shop and I save the new helmet for special occasions until the old Repsol helmet is retired.

I've got a VR-2 that I started wearing in place of my Shoei X-11. Fits my melon much better for way less $. When it comes time to replace the VR-2 I'll likely go KBC again.

Cool looking lid. How does it compare in noise/weight to an Arai or a Suomy?

Well, I've owned them all. The NEW KBC feels about the same weight as my RX7 Arai and maybe a little lighter than my Suomy Spec-1r, but it is much more quiet then the two. It comes down to the fit I think. The older VR-2 fits a little looser (even from the get-go), thus has a bit more wind noise. The new VR-2R fits more snug, and the lining seems to be much better quality. I can ride around without ear plugs with the VR-2R, but not with the Arai or Suomy, or event he VR-2 really.

These are just my opinions, others I'm sure will vary.
