Church buys $3.5 mill house for pastor

No taxes on $4M parsonage
Quote:

Township Clerk Sue Hillebrand complained that Northville schools can ill afford to lose more revenue. She said she's amazed by the church's generosity.
"They could buy a very, very nice home out here for half a million," she said. "Can you imagine how many miracles you could perform, how many people you could help with the $3 million left over?"

This is absurd. There are a lot of orphans that could have had very good meals and good clothes on their back with that kind of money.

That stuff is getting ridiculous. If I drew a 10 mi radius around my house, there are probably 30-40 churches. If you looked at the average amount of land each church is sitting on, they have about the same amount of land as some of the small farms within that same area.

We're in the wrong business.

Sorry, that goes against the Bible's teaching. Either they've lost their way, or they weren't real followers of Christ to begin with. The Bible does not tell us to store our treasures here on Earth - which is sort of what they're teaching.

That doesn't mean we are required to donate our entire savings just to be a Christian. God won't condemn you because you're in a legit profession that pays well. It just means our focus shouldn't be on acquiring earthly wealth just to live "rich".

Fraud.

I won't go into how many "churches" own and operate corporate jets.

Imagine standing before the Lord you were supposed to be serving and explaining why you had to live in a $3.5 mil home.

Do you think it's possible that God is telling me to put a flaming bag of dog shit on this guy's porch and ring the doorbell?

I'd sure like to think so.

Those other people render unto Caesar their damned property taxes. Let the guy buy it himself as a private residence.

Re: Church buys $3.5 mill house for pastor

oddly enough, this was May 14th's devotional passage from Our Daily Bread...
Our Daily Bread - Just For Show

Quoting from the devotion passage:
==
Focusing on outward appearances can be a pleasing way to decorate a house, but it’s a dangerous way to live. Jesus reprimanded many religious leaders of His day because they did not practice what they preached. They were addicted to receiving praise and feeling self-important. Instead of opening the kingdom of heaven to people, they shut the door in their faces. Jesus said of them, “All their works they do to be seen by men” (Matt. 23:5).
==

And the Bible passage that it is inspired from:

1Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2"The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. 3So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4They tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. 5"Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries[a] wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them 'Rabbi.'
8"But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for you have only one Master and you are all brothers. 9And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10Nor are you to be called 'teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ.[b] 11The greatest among you will be your servant. 12For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Not a chance the drunken fools in DC would just spend more. Revenues have been WAY up for years and spending just exceeds it more and more. A new source of revenue just means new 'programs' and a further loss of freedom.

Yeah I know that, just was using "The Hill's" language to get the mindless to go along with their plot. You know how the states use the lottery generated funds to "IMPROVE the SCHOOLS". Yeah, right, whatever.
