The hype is low.
Caught a glimpse of Hayden's new helmet and I have to say, I'm not so much a fan of the new design.
And speaking of helmets, is it me or are CEII's and Spies' helmets strikingly similar?

According to a Soop caption, Spies had to borrow a couple helmets from Edwards for the test because his got lost in transit.

Yah, I finally saw that yesterday. Now it makes total sense.

Which, in my very experienced opinion in matters of MotoGP, is the best weapon to deal with Rossi.

Best weapon there is to rise to the top of any endeavor.

An addiction no rehab can cure
I was watching a MotoGP race from Misano 2008 a couple of nights ago while on the bike trainer, and they mentioned that there was a Honda GP ride for 2009 that was rumored to be going to either Ben Spies or Yuki Takahashi. Of course, it wound up going to Takahashi, who later got dropped after nine rounds due to financial issues. I'm sure Ben is glad that things unfolded for him the way they have. He won a world championship in WSBK against some very tough competition, proved himself there while improving his skills, and now is on one of the best bikes in GP, already posting very impressive results in testing.

I think he's going to step right into the mutant club, especially as he's not the type to post his best stuff in practice, but in the race.
<shakes head> Damn.

I didn't miss anything, did I? Spies is still on a satellite bike, right?

aren't they usually fairly similar at the beginning of the season and pretty much get further apart as development happens during the season?

Nice to see Nicky up in the third spot on day 2 of testing. I also saw (on twitter, thank you very much) that Bwin.com is giving Hayden a 31-1 chance to take the title this year. Sad face ...

Age of bike + rider = 78 !!
Surprising Simoncelli hasn't had better results. He will, though.

He had a huge highside in this round of testing, and landed on his head so hard that it cracked his helmet. He also had no recollection of the crash immediately thereafter. They checked him out at the hospital and he wound up okay, but it was initially rather scary.

Hopefully Nicky's performance was due to Ducati finding some operating window in their bike, and not just a great day.
I might have to be a MotoGP subscriber this year.
