So... to kill momentum of other series announcements?

And once again ... the plot thickens.

Though it looks like they've listened to the fans, racers, factories and enthusiasts. Let's see what sticks (and what doesn't). Good news, nonetheless, no?

I think what this shows is they might finally be pulling their heads out of their asses and maybe they're coming to the realization that they have absolutely no clue what they are doing.

I guess the pull to watch races will be even lower than the desire to tour next year at the sheep fold.

So basically they renamed, Superbike, Superstock, and Formula Xtreme (with the biggest changes here being displacement ranges).

Here's my take on it. Factory Superbike=Superbike, American Superbike=Superstock, Daytona Superbike=FX.

Am I the only one that actually likes the current structure? I mean, I like the concept. The problem is the participation in each. I think they should make the 'stock classes off limits for the factories, and open the 'superbike classes up to whomever is dumb enough to spend the cash.

You did. But in either case, I like the idea. Making the superstock race strictly a privateer effort on bone stock-ish bikes would make it a lot more fun. And since so many racers would be entering that class in the hopes of moving up to a factory superbike ride, the competition would be extremely fierce.

That way, we'd get out tricked out, uber-expensive superbikes from the factories and we'd get the very close, production based racing in a superstock, privateer effort.

Here's to hoping things shake out that way ...

Agree. Once you've used up Super, where do you go? Ultrabikes for the Superstockers, maybe, and Ultra-Superbikes for the Factory rides.

Seriously, I don't much care what they call them - I'm just glad they came to their senses and kept the big bikes around.

Here's the flaw in your logic. You'll still have "factory" efforts, just disguised. The old addage, "Run what ya brung" is long dead. You'll start having people running "factory parts" that are still only available to certain individuals who happen to be engineers.

In SCCA Stock class, you had the same thing. Supposed to be "stock" but it came down to who could run what sway bars, lighter parts etc. You then had factories complaining that they can't be competive so they have to run this or that part.

SCCA is damaged goods too. Unfortunately, there is no way around and no way to run a "stock" class, because they aren't all created equal. Only way to do this is to create a spec class. Meaning you use spec bikes from one manufacture and tires, fuel... etc.... etc.....

Its a loosing battle.

DMG still has not gotten their shit straight yet. IMO they rocked the boat too soon. They should have kept the same rules that AMA had and then in 2010 changed what they wanted to after they had some real world experience in Bike racing. The teams have to make plans, if DMG does not have their shit together yet.....the teams will make a move without DMG.

new rules

Edmonson was behind that NASB series - this all sounds like the same format - did it fold up? why? Sounded like he was trying to turn club racing into something similar to bracket racing @ the drag strip ...........
I think there's a possibility that Edmonson is on a suicide mission because of real or imagined injuries by the AMA. Pro racing gets destroyed with the France family blessing (elimination of competiton for tv time/revenue for NASCAR).....
Any more word on another factory - sponsored (MIC) series? What about WERA? Formula USA was really good when Kenny brought the 500's over from europe........... somebody should be running a format like that , now......
